    Hi,
I have a problem with my screen, yesterday my screen suddenly went black. After a few minutes of inspection, I realized that when i turn of my light and point a flashlight at my screen I can see my desktop, also I connected my HDMI cable to my TV and there is no problem with my monitor. It seems that my LED lamp burned out or something. I also saw that in the last few days my screen was sort of flashing sometimes. So my question is, should I take my laptop to a technician or is this fix simple enough for me to preform?

    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks!

    P.S.
I also read on the internet that the switch shutting of the monitor when the laptop is closed can get stuck or something, so some guy opened the laptop disconnected the switch and everything was fine afterwards.

CCFL bulb is very hard to replace and equally hard to find- it's a part of the screen.
You should replace the whole LCD screen.
Mind you- 5738s came with both CCFL and LED displays- you need to stick to CCFL so don't be content with a display that's supposedly for 5738. You need to know exactly which one is it.

OK, I guess that's a "no" on doing it myself :D
Oh man... this is a real pain...
So how much would the whole screen cost approximately?

It seems CCFL screens are more expensive than LED ones and cost some $120.

First of all, there is a better chance that the inverter has died, not the screen.
Also, what if its an LED screen already?

Anyhow ts really not too hard to replace a ccfl backlight.
You just need a very small phillips head screwdriver or a knife for 2 screws, then you can undo the clips and take off the metal frame.

Its a much better idea than trying to sell the screen for parts and buying a new one. Hey, if something horrible happens, it wont be that bad because its pretty much worthless anyway.

Also I'm sure you can find one for less than 120$. Sure its a CCFL 16:9 screen which is a little rare but they were still mass produced.
Here, you could spring for this grade B screen:
B156XW01 V.0 15.6 WXGA HD GLOSSY LAPTOP LCD SCREEN | eBay

Or this one might work, it is CCFL 1366x768
eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices
