When I turn on my laptop ,ocassionaly, the screen turns white. At first i thought it was a driver issue because it would only happen when windows loaded. But now it does it when i turn it on before windows starts loading, leading me to believe that this is a hardware issue. does anyone know what i should replace in the laptop inorder to fix this problem?

As I said it's really bad if it's a hardware problem.

If you have an external monitor you can plug it in for a few days to rule out LCD problem..

Edit: I suggest you ask a MOD to MOVE this thread in the HARDWARE section. You'll get much more help there for sure.

It could be the screen, the cable, or worst case the motherboard/ graphics card. Plugging into an external monitor as suggested would rule out a total graphics card failure, but I've had one where the screen didn't work and the external did, and it was still the motherboard (broken pin on the socket for the seperate Nvidia board on that one).

You could always try simply unplugging and replugging the screen cable for starters, it's free and might work if the contacts have oxidised a little or worked loose. After that it's probably time to fix through process of elimination, start with a new cable as it's the cheapest part usually :)

I have a 4315 and had the exact same problem with the screen going white. Sent it back for repairs and it's working fine now. Well worth getting it fixed, wish i had done it before the problem got really bad

NO! Quite annoyed about that, I thought they'd give me some sort of report or something but nothing!

I do know that they opened up the bottom part and also the plastic casing below the screen is much looser than it used to be. As for what they actually did, I don't know.

Sorry for not being of much help
