Anyone have any thoughts on this notebook. Have been looking for one with a decent screen for wireless poker playing and DVD watching and have found this for £699 inc VAT. Can anyone tell me if this seems like a good price.

I would also like to know any places for buying notebooks in the UK, the ones I have found so far are laptopsdirect.co.uk and laptopshop.co.uk.

    thanks, Ben

Looking at the specs I think they might be a little beyond what I need, I have been looking at the Centrino processors because in my experience the celeron is a bit of a value alternative. But as I don't intend to play games on it im not sure how much it matters.

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions of other notebooks that offer the features I need at a lower cost.

Still, if anyone has any UK websites I would be appreciative, looking to buy ASAP.

The Celeron is the low-cost version, yes. It will handle office/web duties fine, just provided it's not asked to play any mid-to-high demanding games or processor-heavy activities like video editing.

I don't have any recommendations though, I'm afraid, I was looking at a different area of the market. I bought my Aspire 1694WLMi from acernotebooks.co.uk.

If all you're doing is playing poker and watching DVD's, then you don't need more than a Celeron.

Celeron's aren't too bad actually. They'll be fine for general productivity, watching movies, and playing poker. If you were going to video edit, play games, or render/encode, then a Pentium M would make a difference, but you're not.

I say go with the Celeron, a Pentium M is overkill! :p
