Hi, I have created a back up of my current configuration using Norton Ghost 11 to a external USB hard drive. The computer is set to the correct boot options. When I boot using the usb HD I see the Windows slash, next it says starting windows, then a blue screen with a message that if this is the first time i have seen this screen to run scandisk or checkdisk which I actually did by booting the computer from my Hard disc and going to "My Computer" and checking the external hard drive partitions. Checking the back up in disk managent all 3 partitions are there and everything seems perfect. When I try to boot from the usb drive it goes in a loop from starting windows to blue screen and last to "last known good congfig." and over and over. If anyone has run into this issue and solved it i would really like to find out what I'm doing wrong or not doing.
I have been able to create a set of recovery DVD's using the Acer recovery pgm that came with the computer. That program seems to work fine.

This is a Acer Aspire 5601AWLMi

    Thanks in advance
