I have an Aspire 9300 laptop, the c partition became corrupted. I cannot use my backup disks to reinstall Vista. I cannot install Vista from an OEM disk as in both cases I get a BSOD error around 50% through the installation. I still have the hidden partition, but when I make it active the Acer recovery starts but then I get "Fail to find Partition 1 drive letter"?

Sounds to me like your hard drive has most likely kicked the bucket.

So I should delete the C partition rather than reformat it? When I delete the partition I get "fail to getpartition 1 drive letter" and a "machine check error" When I format it on another computer it assigns D. But I still get the same problem when I put it back in the laptop. XP starts , then Acer recovery and then the "fail" message?
