    Hi guys,

I am looking to add a second hard drive to my Acer 8935G, can anyone recommend which cradle/caddy I should/could use. I have contacted Acer's technical support who told me to contact the sales team who told me to contact Acer Spares or something, however they have not replied to my email.

If anyone can recommend which cradle or caddy and where I can get one would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

Anyone? Can anyone even confirm if it will be the same cradle/caddy that is used in other Acers? If so I can try Ebay as they have a good few on there.

    All help appreciated!

    Cheers

I don't know about 8935G but for my 6930G I bought them (new HDD cover and metal bracket for the second HDD) from Acer parts after giving them the codes and asking them for the price by email. The parts I was looking for weren't in the website but they were in stock.
I doubt these will be compatible for the 8935g. I think you need to look for HDD metal bracket with number 47.ASY0N.002 but you might need to buy another cover with number 42.ASY0N.002. The cover you have I don't think is compatible for second hdd but I am not 100% sure. I am saying that because I have the parts list for the 8930G and it is listing two different covers (one if you have one HDD and another one compatible for two HDDs) and two different insulators (metal brackets), one for the primary and one for the second hdd. Unfortunately I don't have the parts list for the 8935G but it might similar to the 8930G.

Edit: the second cover that is listed in my parts list for the 8930G it is written as UNILOAD COVER FOR 2ND HDD WITH
12.5MM. Now I am not quite sure what that means. It is either to imply that is deeper and can accommodate the second HDD or that is compatible with 12.5mm 2.5'' HDDs. The HDDs for laptops are 2.5'' format and have height 9mm but some laptops, usually big size, can also accommodate 12.5mm height HDDs. That is also for the second insulator, it is written as HDD INSULATOR FOR 2ND HDD WITH 12.5MM. So you might not need to buy another cover. The insulator for the normal HDD has number 47.ASY0N.001. I hope it helps

I didnt even bother with a cradle, its quite a tight fit so just popped it in and screwed the cover back on.
I have been moving the laptop around for a couple of weeks and yesterday took the cover off and it is still exactly where it should be.

Same here, i just opened the back lid and put in the drive and did nothing else to secure the drive. and after several months the drive is in exactly the same place so dont spend your money on a spare cradle.
