    Hi guys,

Does anyone have an Acer 8935G? If so what's your thoughts, I have started the process of ordering one of these but still have time to cancel if it's not the right choice.

All help, replies are much appreciated!

Hello mate, I have an 8935g and have used it extensively for 3 weeks now.
You can read my initial impressions here:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=402074

From using it for 3 weeks I would like to also add:
    Positives
The performance is fantastic (I bought the P7350 but swapped it for a P9500)
The battery life in intel gfx mode is amazing, over 3.5h
    Backlit keyboard is really useful
Stays really cool on underside so can use on lap

    Negatives
Some idiot thought it would be a good idea to put a touch sensitive wifi button just left of the keyboard, I keep turning it off mid game :(
Left palm rest gets warm when gaming (not unconfortable as per most dells though)
You need acer drivers for the ATI 4670 as they need to be modified by acer to switch between ati/intel

    Any specific questions please ask

Hi mate, thanks for your reply. I got this one Aspire 8935G-904G50Bn (LX.PDD0X.003) not sure how this one will be. I don't understand the last part about the drivers for the ATi 4670, can you simplify it for me I'm an amatuer ha ha.

    Thanks again

Is that the quad or P8600?

To clarify about the drivers, you cannot use normal ATI mobility drivers as you need the gfx switching software built into the catalyst drivers (so you can switch betwen ati and intel gfx)
This is a bit of a b1tch as you have to wait for Acer to release updated video card drivers (dont hold your breathe!)

Hi mate, thanks again for your reply! It's the quad core version but only has 1 x 500gb hdd.

I do apologise but I still don't understand the driver issue? Does it mean I won't be able to play any games because I have an intel processor?

    Thanks again!

no not at all. It works great out of the box, you just switch off energy saving button and it turns on the ATI card when gaming.
If you want max batt life or just surfing the net the you switch energy saving on, this turns off the ATI card.

What I am trying to get at is the drivers for this function need to be written by Acer so you wont be able to get drivers from ATI to update the card.

As it stands out of the box the performance is great, I am playing TF2 and BF2 at 1080p and DOW2 at 720p on high (demanding game!)

    Hi guys,

This might be the wrong place to post, but I have managed to setup a password promt on my laptop before the boot up process takes place. I know the password but I want to remove it. Has anyone got any ideas? Also I have managed to download a folder direct from Acer and now it won't delete keeps on asking for permissions.

Can anyone confirm what Acer applications I should find on my start menu?

    Cheers

go into bios, go to the passwords and blank them out with then space bar the save and quit.

I also did this by accident with the fingerprint software.
