    Hi

I have an acer 8930G with a Q9000 processor, 500gb hd etc. Running visa home premium at the moment (32 bit) and looking to change.

I have created factory restore dvds in case I need to revert anyway.

But I do not want to spend ages installing windows 7 if there are no acer drivers etc for it.

Has anyone who has this laptop installed windows 7 and is it working?

I have been given an official 64 bit version of windows 7 (some guy I know is on some training course or something) but I cant find out info about it.

Obviously I need the dash thing to work for volume control, I use the fingerprint reader a lot too, I also have a tv card with my laptop (Havent managed to find channels yet though!!). Basically I want to see if everything works? IE do the vista drivers work?

    Cheers

    Yes,
you have my full recomendation to go with win7 x64. your acer will be happy :)
if you dont find win7 driver just use vistas (64bit if you go with win7 x64).

Windows 7 is way to live!
I have my AS6920G with Windows 7 as well.
Vista's Drivers can be use on Windows 7.
    For example: Launch Manager(cinedash stuffs), Realtek(sound), Graphic Driver(GPU), camera(webcam).
Just don't install Acer bloatwares and crapware, they're useless.
For example: Empowering Technology(eRecovery, ePower and so on).
However, there are good Acer software too.
    For example: Acer Arcade Deluxe

Everything seems to work with windows 7 apart from Skype and a few other programes, sometimes the fingerprint thing crashes though, i think some of it is not 100% compatible but acer are sending me the upgrade dvds anyway even though I already have a retail windows 7, i wanted it mainly for the drivers as it will be fully tested by then I suppose.

But anyone else with an 8930G windows 7 works fine :)

if you have problem with installing software on win7, like skype, just put compatability mode on vista on his setup.exe and then install it.
after installation if you still have problems put compatability on programs main exe and everything should work fine. cheers
