I have just bought the Acer 8920g, and am having real problems with the graphics side of things. I have been going through it, installing things as you do, and when I went to run CoD4, I was hit by 10-20 FPS. There is no way this laptop should be running CoD4 at that level....

I installed the latest graphics drivers I could find, 7.15.11.7792, and then tried again, same result. I downloaded 3Dmark06. And after taking for ever to load the first test, it was going through the graphics test 1 at 1FPS, and so I just stopped it.

There definitely feels like something majorly wrong with this.

The laptop isn't even 24 hours old yet!!!

The other thing I have noticed is that it hasn't been able to play the BlueRay promotional DVD that they provided with it, all other normal DVD's work fine. Any idea why this may be?

Any advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated as this is drivig me crazy!! Spend lots of money to find that in fact it has worse graphics than my 3 year old cheapest Dell Inspiron with On Board graphics!! HELP!!!

Maybe it's not the one from acer, that's why blu-ray will not work. You must use an signed driver and I think yours isn't. Download it from their website. Aslo, try to give use forceware numer, not 7.15.11.7792. You also didn't give us your graphic or any other component.

Mat, the last five digits of the driver number are the ForceWare number - he's got 177.92.

    I have the 9500m GS.

I have now got the BluRay working as I got the latest from the Acer website. But when I run any games I am getting sub 20 FPS.

Also on the 3DMark 06 I can't even hit 2FPS on the first graphics test!!! That is definitely seriously wrong.

Taking it back to the shop now as there has to be something wrong with it.
