I'm thinking of buying one of the Acer 8820 models (or one of the newer 8930 models) with the full 1900x1080 (1080i) resolution. I will want to occasionally use the computer (and its HDMI output jack) with my 5 year old Sony KE-42TS2U plasma TV. My Sony TV plasma supports up to 1080i or 720p – but (and I believe this may be a problem) apparently the maximum resolution that my Sony plasma TV will display is 1024 x 1080i or 1024 x 720p. It also has ony a DVI input - no HDMI. So, were I to hook the Acer 8920 or 8930 to my Sony plasma TV using the 8920's or 8930's HDMI output jack:

    1. Can I successfully display the Acer's HDMI output through my Sony Plasma's DVI input using a HDMI > DVI adapter (and a separate audio cable from the Acer's audio output to the Sony Plasma'a audio inupt, if I want to send audio to the plasma as well)?

    2. More importantly, will the Acer's video signal display properly on the Sony Plasma, despite the 5 year old Sony plasma's maximum resolutions as above?

    Thanks,
