Being that it is June now, is the latest build of the Acer Travelmate 8204 (06/06) free of problems? From what I am aware of, the 8204 should be free of all problems starting with the 03/06 build, am I correct? So is it safe to say that if I purchase an Acer Travelmate 8204 within the next few days, it would be one of the latest builds and free of the problems it has been having in the past? What is a good site to purchase from? Where did all of you with the 03/06 + builds purchase yours from? This is the perfect laptop for me and I do not want to go through all of the hassle of returning and exchanging. I will be entering college this fall so I need this to be free of problems. Thanks in advance for all of the help.

Free of problems, no such guarantee, even if the build you get is one that supposedly doesn't have issues, you could always get defective pixel, or just a lemon with some hardware issue.

I've had my 8204 since they came out, and no problems as of yet.

Where did you buy it from? Where did any of you people with good build dates buy them from?

I got mine from CDW, worked like a charm and was the first build date (whatever that was) now, others are more particular, apparently mine has the grey line issue, doesn't bother me one Iota, but effects others apparently.

Mine may have the bluetooth issue, but since I have no bluetooth devices I've not had reason to care.

The only unsolvable problem I've ever had with my 0601 8204 is the low headphone output volume that there's simply no fix for (just a trait of the Realtek HD audio chip). I wouldn't read too much into the postings here - there's a handful of people complaining about this and that, which out of the 10's of thousands of units sold is inconsequential.

I am getting one next week, new stock arrival. Will post my experiece, this is the first time I am buying an Acer. Although Acer have a very bad reputation in Malaysia for their poor after sales support but I havent heard anything negative about their higher end products.

Certainly it's hard to argue that this is one of the more decent models in the market currently.

I still don't find the volume a problem, did have a slight issue with it this weekend when trying to use the laptop to watch a movie, but just opened the equalizer and pushed everything to full and that seemed to solve the problem.

Even with fairly cheap headphones (came free with gamevoice system that I stupidly purchased) I have fine volume.

I got my 8204 since June 2006. No problems as of now.

But I do have some reservations about the SPDIF output, I think I'll post anew if I can't get something from these archives :)
