    Acer 6935G Hot HDD

    My HDD is running at 51'C at idle.

    I've noticed there is like a silver foil/plastic over the enclosure should i remove this? the temps seem really high.

    don't remove the foil shield, unless you want the hd's magnets and electric fields to generate interference that could degrade the wifi performance of the laptop.

    is the disc being accessed constantly by software for some reason?

    For some crazy reason Acer seem to like enclosing their HDD's without any airflow....

    The hottest my Seagate 5400RPM ever got was 62 Degrees Celcius on a very hot day more than two years ago. And it's still working.

    Crazy.
