    Hello everyone,

I have an old laptop - Acer 6930G, it still works perfect after two years and a half, but I was wondering if there is a way to improve it's performance and save some money instead of buying a new one.

    The current technical parameters are:

    P8400 Intel processor - 2.26 Mhz
    Nvidia GeForce 9600M GS - 512 MB
    4 GB DDR2
    640 GB HDD
    - Toshiba 320 GB
    - WD 320 GB

    Any suggestions?

Cpu => p9700 , maybe an T9900 X9100 but make sure it's an E0 example! (speaking from expirience)

    Gfx => 4650 DDR2 / 9600M DDR3 not a major upgrade though

8gb ram and any SSD are possible

What do you use your 6930g for?

I use it most of the time for work and internet, but all new browsers like Mozilla eat a ton of RAM and CPU with all this plugins...

Do you think that I can stay with the current mainboard?
The T9900 and X9100 sound like a good tuning, I was thinking for the similar one E8435 like another option
Is it going to take 8GB RAM, I think that it has a 4GB limitation?
I was thinking for 2 new HDD, maybe one of them will be an SSD I'm still not sure how big, maybe just for the OS

    I upgraded from a P7350 to a E8435 (T9900/x9100), major improvement!

If it's only for work and surfing a T9900 + a ssd would be awesome!

Just make sure you get a E0 if you decided to get an E8435, i can't run my E8435 at full speed if i leave the original cover on (i have a modified one with a whole near the fan).

No mainboard swap needed for these upgrades, there is only 1 version.

Gfx => GT240M DDR3 ( NOT GDDR3, but actual JEDEC DDR3) might be possible too - see the MXM cards topic. Card claimed to work in 5520G & 5920G (both notoriously picky machines), however noone from this forum has bought a card yet, so it is untested.
