When I try to play a game such as Runes of Magic, it literally overheats in about 20 minutes and shuts itself off. I use throttlestop for the throttling problem, can that be the cause of the overheating? I cleaned my fan, but it still seems to overheat. I can play on high settings on the game and it overheats, and if I play it on low, it still overheats. Whats the problem here and how can i fix this? Thx

If your system is shutting down, then it's a legitimate overheating problem!
Did you clean the fan intake and the copper grill the fan blows onto as well?

Otherwise, it might be time to take more drastic measures like replacing the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU.
    Or heck, replacing the fan!

Is there any other alternative that doesn't require me to physically replace anything inside my laptop?

I guess you could buy a laptop cooling stand - something with a fan that will blow air into your machine and cool it.
But I'd consider that a bandaid.

Or just buy a new Acer - the 6920G is getting on in years.
