hi i have an acer 6592g, i flashed the bios to the latest, becuase of fan and heat issues, but after the update , the keyboard and mouse aren't working properly, i downgraded to the original bios, but problem is the same.

i have been poking around the bios files, and i have noticed that after a certain version number- the bios has support to flash SST25VF080B, now i also noticed in later bios releases there is an update called KBBIOS and its updated to version ver .50. and also the EC bios with the same version number.

Now i suspect that the information i want to flash, so that the keyboard and trackpad return to their original state, is contained in that part SST25VF080B, which earlier version of the bios dont support for flashing, and later verision have the KBBIOS update already on it.

here is a section for the log for bios version 1.52- version after 1.32 have the ability to flash SST25VF080B.

where as versions before 1.32 do not have support for flashing part SST25VF080B

so i guess the easiest way is to get a bios version between 1.32 and 1.32.02- all have support for SST25VF080B (008E00BF) but critically dont have the KBBIOS. So if any one with an acer travelmat 6592g and have the bios 1.32, 1.32.01 or 1.32.02 please let me know

And the other option, is can i edit the bios version after 1.32 to remove the KBBIOS update or can i downgrade the KBBIOS. I beleive this is all part of the EC BIOS - so if its possible to downgrade the EC bios section that would be great.

thanks in advance, i hope this all made sense.

yeah, i have contacted acer, but no reply yet, im in the UK and they tend to be a bit slow on support here.

I don't know why its giving me this issue. Can i ask you a favor, could you please get in touch with acer, and ask if they can send you the bios revison 1.32 , 1.32.01 or 1.32.02. i would greatly appreciate it
    thanks in advance.

Okay, so i got in touch with acer and spoke to technical support. And i gotta say what an idiot.

I told the guy, i have recently flashed my laptop to the latest revision and after that there is some issues, everything went fine with the flash, only the keyboard and track pad are not working function now, so i want to flash back to a revision number V1.32, but its not available on the site, so if acer could send it to me.

The guy tells me that its gonna cost £50 to get it flashed again. He tells me if you have broken your laptop by flashing incorrectly, then its £50 for us to fix it. I told him, i only need the BIOS file, i can sort it out myself. But he won't listen. I asked to speak to a supervisor, the takes my info, again, then says some one will be in touch in the next 24hrs. Acer technical support, usually aren't as bad, they can difficult, but this guy was aggravating.

guys im desperate now, im sure, the bios revision the travelmate 6592g bios V1.32 has not dissappeared off the face off the earth, lost forever.

Some one has gotta have it, someone can get it form acer.

    thanks

Here is the information about the Bios file, so i know it defenelty exists or did at some point in time. There is a link but it dosen't work.

    V1.32
    08/31/2007
    EC BIos version 0.48
    ATI M71 VBIOS BR26352
    ATI M74 VBIOS BR26339B

    1. Update ECBIOS to 0.48. Update new brightness table.
    2. Update ATI M74 VBIOS to BR26339B for "LVDS display can be corrupted or blank after long periods of operation"
    3. Update ATI M71 VBIOS to BR26352 for solving system hang up when switch to CRT by Fn+F5 key.
    4. Support SST25VF080B flashpart
    5. Update DMI CPU external clock for Merom-L.
    6. Hide the iAMT node in BIOS setup menu without Intel 4965ABG wireless LAN.

This is the only link i found, but it is not working, it just dosen't work.

    http://iec1-sw3a/Project/Acer/Pantanal/BIOS/SBIOS/PanV132.zip

i hope this may lead to some clues...

usually updates from previous versions are carried forward into the newer BIOS versions unless they are removed due to compatibility issues...

and when a previous function is removed, they note that in the BIOS.DOC file where you pulled that info about version 1.32 from

so unless 1.33, 1.34, 1.35, or 1.36 states that they removed the Support SST25VF080B flashpart then it should be inluded in the 1.36 bios and higher versions (unless they stated that they removed it for some reason)

    just a thought

yeah, versions after 1.32 all support Support SST25VF080B flashpart, but version 1.33 and upwards, well actually version 1.32.03 upwards have the KBBIOS/ECBIOS update to version .50. I only really want to get the KBBIOS/ECBIOS down from .50 to .48 or lower verson.

Version below 1.32 have KBBIOS version .48 and lower, but unfotunatley do to not support flashpart SST25V080B, i suspect thats the reason, i still have the problems after flashing to versions below 1.32, bcause the bios are not flashing flashpart SST25V080B as s result the KBBIOS or whatever else it is thats causing the problems remain in the flashpart SST25V080B.
