    Hi

does anyone can have real 5.1 with the HDMI out of the 5930g.

    I only have stéreo.

For information i install a fresh windows vista with the lastest nvidia drivers.
The soft on the acer website don't change anything.

    Thank you.

if you have the REALTEK audio app setup correctly and still only get 2 or 2.1 sound thru the HDMI, you might have to step up to a TOS-LINK adapter plugged into the headphone jack (then you have to set up the headphone jack to output SPDIF optical signals by using the REALTEK APP)

i have no clue if the HDMI supports 5.1, but i know you can get 5.1 using a tos link adapter,, but you also must have an optical input on your audio system AMP...

you're right. I can use the optical out. But if i buy a notebook with a hdmi port, is to have only on cable to plug for video/audio. And the basics specifications of the hdmi 1.0 have 5.1 support.

Maybe the drivers don't implement that option, simply?

i'm not up on HDMI or 5.1 audio from a PC,,, but i'm betting the 5.1 features are not supported by the ACER's HDMI output...

i may be wrong.. i'm sure others will chime in later on this evening and tell us more
