Lately I've been having some problems with the GPU temps in my laptop. I used the newest drivers I could find (175.63 3Dmark vantage drivers). They gave a good perf increase, but temps hit 94°C when playing Halo 2 (no oc). So I uninstalled them and installed the 169.06. Now it runs somewhat cooler, but in the middle of a game sometimes the fans just stop spinning, they kick out, and after 15-20 sec they kick in again at highest speed (doesn't do this in all games), as a result of this my GPU temp shoots up to 96°C (that was with OC), but even with oc I had never reached over 90 before (except with the vantage drivers, which was without oc).

I cleaned out the vents a few times already, they're clean. What is causing this, maybe install a newer bios version (I have original bios), and what is the best graphics driver (perf/temp wise).

How do I do this exactly? Can it do any harm, will it void the warranty?

I have reached 97 Deg without overclocking. It depends on your room temp and also ventilation. So give enough air for the laptop to breath.

also GPU can handle temps till 110 before it shuts off to cool.

Are there any good cooling pads, for example, will the zalman nc1000 work on my laptop? (by that I mean, will it cool it considerably)
