    Hey guys!

I've just got my acer 5920g back from acers own repair center saying there's nothing wrong with the hardware. I sent it there thanks to their wonderful support whom couldn't find any software issues with it.

However, the problem still exists, its got no sound what so ever.
I've installed realtek high definition audio driver R1.95, but no progress.

Acer support wants me to send it on repair again, something I'd really like to avoid, and since their wonderful support-repair-team didn't find any problem with the hardware I was hoping to solve this myself.

Any idea guys? Greatful for whatever help I can get.

    Cheers!

Go to 'Device Manager'->'Sound, Video and Game controllers'. Is the Realtek listed there? If yes rightclick on it, select properties and tell me the 'Device status'.

Also, go to Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs and see if you have 'KB888111 High Definition Audio Package' listed there.

Try this, it should solve it (worked fine for me as I had the same trouble)

    1. Install Driver
    2. Restart as suggested
    3. Open Device Manager (Control Panel-System-Hardware), right click on the device marked with a yellow exclamation mark, choose update, and then choose to install the best reccomended (NOT to look for it over the net). After this, system should find "High Definition Audio Bus" and install sound courd correctly.
    4. Restart
    5. Enjoy (or course me if it doesn´t work :p)

Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

    Kind Regards

No, the realtek is not listed in the Device manager.
And no, I dont have the KB8888111 high definition audio package, in the add/remove programs.

Thanks for the help, what shall I do next? : )

So in other words the driver is NOT installed..Is there any audio device listed? And by the way do you have in Device Manager 'Other Devices', with a yellow question mark?
When you run the RealTek R1.95 installer do you get any error messages? Or just finish and says installation complete successfully?

Glad to hear that helped!!!!!!! :)

It´s kind of tricky and unless somobody else told you how to solve it, it may drive you crazy. Once again, Acer´s SAT response to your problem is "AMAZING"

    Kind Regards!!!

PS: atthegates, let´s close it in half & half :D

istead of opening a new thread i will state my problem here ..on my 5920g
lately i've been hearing a strange piercing noise in music and videos especially when some one is talking and it seems random and i tried everything like differnt drivers and checking hardware conflicts and uninstalling all codecs and programs also disabling the modem except restoring to factory cuz i have millions of things on drive C: the noise seems more in the left speaker and i remember that i didnt have that problem when i used the 3708 bios ...maybe im wrong but do any of u guys know anyhing about this problem and any solutions ??

try flashing that bios back to ur laptop (3708)
BIOSes dont need to be upgraded unless you are upgrading the hardware or a hardware incompatibility or conflict creeps up or there are some new options in the BIOS itself which would prove to be beneficial for your system..!!

I dont know about that but usually newer bioses mean improved hardware functions ... but i still dont know 100% that its the bios causing that but thats why i need someone who has info about the problem .

and you have reset all the sound levels to default. turn all graphic equalizer levels in the relteck sound controller in control panel to default and you have the sound set to laptop speakers in sound and Audio devices properties/audio tab/sound playback/Advanced: set the drop down menu to Laptop stereo speakers and apply.
you may be over equalizing the sound.

Im using vista the Acer OEM copy that came with the machine so as u may already know that in vista the sound options are pretty much castrated so u dont have any contol over anything ...
i think that i will try to recover the system to factory maybe it will help ,still waiting to hear from someone having the same problem ...
