    Hello

I just get ati 4670 from hong kong, and i replaced my old 4650. Its most certainly the card from MSI notebook.

The card worked at first, windows has installed new drivers and few minutes later my laptop lcd went dead :(
System was still working i was able to plug in external lcd and restart the computer.
So Laptops screen is dead im working on external lcd, windows is botting and right when the login screen is about to appear the blue screen appears, It happened every time when i tried to run windows in normal mode.
So now im albe to run my laptop only in safe mode on external screen. Tried check drivers in safe mode, in device manager ati radeon 4670 is displayed but when in go in windows resolution change and advenced settings everything is blank or marked unavalible/unknown.

I tried to istall gpu-z and ati bios loader to look closely into bios verionm byt then sudennly external displays went down.

Now i have laptop that is not working with any display, but still i can hear sounds of windows starting.

When i came back to my 4650 card everything seens to work normal except laptops built-in screen wich is still dead.

Do i still have any chance to run this 4670 on my computer ?
And what do u think about my built id screen - if it's possible to fix it ?

Have you removed the old drivers?

    Thank yu for reply.

Right now im unable to do anything with this card.

I let windows to take care of drivers. It updated drivers byitself at first run, but shortly after this my builtin display went dead.
I tried also change drivers to standard vga drivers and install newest drivers from amd website when i was in safe mode. Every thing ended up the same - blue screen before login screen when booting windows 7 in normal mode. After running couple of times windows in safe mode and fighting with drivers all external outputs went dead :(

So i think the answer is Yes - i uninstalled old drivers, or maybe you have in mind some way of uninstalling drivers that im not aware of :(

What thermal material have you used? How long have you tried to deal with the drivers? Maybe you have killed the GPU if it was overheating.

Cooper plate under the gpu with arctic silver mx-2, and thermal pads 6 w/mk on memory. Same setup i used for 4650 that runs perfectly.

Card was not running hot, after turning off laptop i could touch the card with bare hand and honestly i can tell it was warm and it was not hitting temps significantely above 50 c.

Do You think that my built in screen is dead until i change motherboard ?Cooper plate under the gpu with arctic silver mx-2, and thermal pads 6 w/mk on memory. Same setup i used for 4650 that runs perfectly.

I was struggling with drivers for about 30 minutes with breaks for couple of minutes.

Have you swapped cards with power and/or battery connected? Although it's more likely to fry the GPU or the motherboard than the LCD, but it's not impossible. Try this - put the 4650 in, turn the laptop on and use flashlight on the screen. If you see really dim picture - it's the inverter, if you don't, then it's most likely the whole display.

Never swaping cards with power connected.

When running on external monitor there is no second screen connected in screen dispay settings.
Also built in lcd is completely dark, absolute0, nothing.

I guess te MB is fried :(

Or this. If there's someone from whom you can take a display to test it would be nice. Are there any laptop/electronics repair shops around you? The only other option is to buy either display or motherboard to see if it is the faulty item or it is the other. The problem is that you'll most likely end with both, which calls for a new system.
