So I took some time and researched on this forum what I could upgrade my Acer 5920 (not the G model, integrated graphics) to make it run faster - it came with a T5750 stock which is quite a slow CPU by todays standards, and I need a faster CPU for Digital DJing.

So I just got the CPU in the mail today, removed old thermal paste, applied new, unlocked & removed old CPU and dropped the new one in, and now after putting it back together I push the on button and the laptop lights up like it is on, but the screen stays dark and the laptop seems to be stuck on a restart loop, or occassionally it will shut itself off. I took off the panel and put my finger on the heat sink and it seems like the CPU is heating up significantly.

my BIOS is version 1.3813 which seems to be the newest, though I never upgraded it. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I got the CPU off of Ebay, it is a SLAYQ model that is used, I suspect there is a possiblility of it being a dud but first I want to eliminate other options.

    Thank you!

So I reinstalled my old CPU the T5750 and my trusty laptop is content again, so I don't think I messed up the procedure installing the T8300.

I double checked that my BIOS is the most up to date version (it is) so now I am returning the CPU to have it replaced by the eBay seller I got it from. I will post an update once I get the replacement in if I still have trouble with it. If anyone has any advice for round 2 let me know! (because if it doesn't work this second time I won't have an excuse to return it to the seller!)
