    • 12/09/2015:
      - Temporary replaced the modded bios links list with a unique Mega folder link. I will add it back as soon as I've a little free time.
    • 18/05/2014:
      - Added some gaming tests.
    • 17/05/2014:
      - Added several GT540M modded vBioses.
    • 24/01/2014:
      - Added "5755G" to the thread title. Since these notebooks are quite the same (all the guides written there can be used for 5755G too), and the other "5755G owners lounge" is a bit poor of contents, I've decided to include the AA 5755G here;
      - Added new GT630M modded vBios with higher voltages (Overvolt), for more oc stability.

      - Added Fan Controller Links

      - Added Temperatures Tests section
    I've noticed that this notebook owners lounge is missing, so here it is.

    * Quick Review *

    5750G is a budget gaming notebook from Acer. It's equipped with 2nd generation Intel Core processors (i3/i5/i7) and nvidia geforce 500/600 series graphic card (520M, 540M, 610M, 630M). Its market price is about ~400-500 usd.

    Pro:
    • Low Price
    • Powerful hardware
    • Relatively light weight
    • Comfortable touchpad and keyboard

    Con
    • Low quality materials (plastic)
    • Low quality screen (1366*768, Glossy, horrible angle of view)
    • Low quality cooling system

    My Specs:
    i5 2450M 2.5 Ghz (2.8/3.1 Turbo Boost)
    Nvidia GeForce 630M, 2 Gb DDR3, 672@800
    6 Gb Ram DDR3 1333 Mhz
    750 Gb HDD
    3 x USB 2.0

    * How To *

    Here a video I've found on youtube which shows very well how to disassemble this laptop:

    N.B. The procedure for disassembling the Acer 5755G is quite the same, the only difference is the keyboard: you have to remove it, after removing the upper case.

    Here another video which explains how to replace notebook screen without take apart the whole laptop:

    Compatible LCD Screens:

    * Mods & Tweaks *

    Power Profile Tweak: As I said, this laptop overheats a lot, especially when turbo boost mode turn on. This usually isn't a problem while using cpu intensive applications (video Editing, 3D editing, video conversion, etc...) but becomes frustrating while gaming (due to extra GPU heat) because the laptop may easily shutdown to prevent hardware damages. Fortunately on this notebook most games don't need full cpu speed for working well (since the whole system is bottlenecked by gpu), and we can easily underclock it by Windows power management.

    [IMG]

    Set "Maximum processor state" to 99% for disabling the turbo boost feature. Usually 80% is enough to play almost all games (depending on your processor speed, take a minimum of 2Ghz cpu speed as reference). With this little trick you will be able to lower the averange cpu temp.

    CPU/GPU repaste
    Change the thermal paste on cpu and gpu (gpu sometimes has thermal pads, but only on some models) can help to lower the averange hardware temperature. I suggest to use Prolimatech PK-3, Artic Cooling MX-4 or Artic Silver 5 for CPU and Ybris Thermal Pad Ultra for GPU.

    Unlocked Bios: P5WE0121 by Akbar (Advance, Power, UEFI Support, Hackintosh patch)

    Undervolted vBios
    These bioses have been modded by me for having lower GPU voltages. This means less heat, longer battery life and sometimes more 3d application stability. All bioses are based on Akbar modded one. If your gpu becomes instable (crashes or black screens during gaming or benchmarks) then your card needs an higher voltage (or must be underclocked). Every single card (even same models) can bear different voltages at same clocks. So don't surprise if your friend achieve to overclock his card to 850 mhz with 0,85V, and you can barely put it up to 700 mhz. Every chip has his own OC margin.

    Nvidia GeForce 630M & 540M

    File name format: P5WE0121_ByAkbar_ GPUMODEL_ ModType( 2DVoltage- 3DVoltage)

    *Warning* Flashing bioses that provide a substantial overvolt can be extremely dangerous. Do it on your own risk.

    Folder Link: http://bit.ly/1UUyGBm

    Note: If you want a custom voltages setting that is not present here, please send me a pm with your bios link (if you don't want the unlocked one) and a GPU-Z screenshot! I'll add it as soon as possible.

    GPU Overclock
    Simply use MSI Afterburner. Overclock on nvidia 520/610 is totally useless, since they're too weak for running well whatever demanding games. Actually I don't reccomend to oc the gpu at all. FPS boost in demanding games is very low (5-6 fps) and considering the possible side effects of overclocking, I think it's not worth it. However, during my test, I could push my GT630M to 850@1700@990 with 0,98V 3D voltage profile. Everything else above was instable.

    <STRIKE> EC firmware mod for better fan curve ( Work -not- in progress):
    I'm trying to mod the embedded controller firmware for allowing the fan to spin to its max speed at lower temperature than stock one (everyone who flashes the bios at least one time knows how fast this fan can really spin), but currently I'm in a dead point. If someone wants to give some help please reply to this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/729876-ec-firmware-mod-acer-laptop.html#post9345311</STRIKE>

    Edit: Still in a dead point after months. However, due to the new updates by acer (see the end of this thread) this mod doesn't make sense anymore.

    Hackintosh installation (To Do)
    I'm not sure if I can post here a guide, since it's not totally legal to install OS X on a non apple notebook. I'll wait for a moderator's permission.

    Thanks for the Rom mod, works like a charm with my GT630.

    Im very interested in the hackintosh guide!
    Also, a list of interesting tweaks we can do now with our hacked bios will be great, so we can customize and improve the performance of the laptop...

    Best!

    Another question, have you been able to make the 630M work in the hackintosh version? For what I have read it's impossible to make that model of card work...

    Glad to hear that! If you experience any stability problem just let me know, and I'll add a custom 540M vbios with slighty higher voltages!

    Unfortunately the most interesting feature (custom fan control) doesn't work at all :( All bios settings related to the fan control seem to be overrided by something else (probably by the ACPI). Most of the other options are useless and potentially harmful if changed from default settings. There are few interesting things, like cpu core management and UEFI options, maybe I'll write a little guide about them as soon as I have a little free time.

    For hackintosh guide, I've replied to your pm!

    No, unfortunately the discrete card can't work under Hackintosh, because OSX doesn't support the Optimus technology (Apple uses a proprietary hardware solution for iGpu and dGpu switching).

    For everyone: Take a look at the update in the fist post!

    Great great news. Tried it right now, and it seems to work, the fan goes really fast.
    Any other user with experience with it?

    Ellric, do you think we don't need to "underpower" the gpu anymore? What do you recommend?

    I still don't understand how the hell this fan works. The program seems to not change any register in EC. I'll investigate, just for curiosity. Btw the program runs very well, it helps a lot to keep temps down. Some test before/after coming soon.

    If you didn't experience any issue with the undervolted bios, there's no reason to not use that and raise your laptop temps. However I think that we have even a little oc room for the gpu now (mine never goes over 70/72° with the fan full on) so maybe stock voltage (0,98v) or even a higher voltage (1/1.05v) can be useful. If you don't want to oc anything, keep the modded bios :)

    I'm working on it, but I'm facing some problems with a few kext on Mavericks. I'll post it as soon as this problems are solved! :)

    Thanks for the permission!

    Ey, no hurries, just to let you know what you are making is interesting for the community!
    I will think now if I dare to change the thermal stuff over the cpu and gpu (some crazy photos of how is it made when assembled, in the acer support forum).
    Do you think it's worthy?

    Memory Question

    I know it's a noob question, and I think it's ok, but I would like to check that the memory I bough is recognized as 1333 mhz.

    Hard disk tip

    I just changed the default hard disk by a Samsung SSD (840 EVO) and the perfomance has increased a lot. I recommend this to users of this laptop who want to have a better experience with it.

    My laptop has currently a Sandry Bridge i5 processor. Would it be worthy to update it to an i7 processor?

    It's totally worth! I've dropped about 10/12° by changing the ridicoulous thermal paste used by Acer with a higher performance paste like the Prolimateck Pk-3. Disassemble the whole notebook is a bit frustrating, but repaste is a must on this machine.

    Nope, I've just cleaned up the dust.

    The youtube video I've linked in the first post explains very well how to disassemble the laptop without troubles Keep attention to the flat connectors, these little s are very fragile, and take care of marking somehow the screws so you won't forget where to put them.

    You'll surely find out that it's easier than you thought :thumbsup:

    Al these laptops use the same EC (ENE KB930) and, in most cases, the same bios.

    Here's a list of devices that share the same bios (and probably the same EC):

    - Acer
    Aspire 5750
    Aspire 5750G
    Aspire 5750Z
    Aspire 5750ZG
    Aspire 5755
    Aspire 5755G
    Aspire 7750
    Aspire 7750G
    Aspire 7750Z
    Aspire 7750ZG

    - PackardBell
    PackardBell EasyNote LS11HR
    PackardBell EasyNote LS13HR
    PackardBell EasyNote LS44HR
    PackardBell EasyNote TS11HR
    PackardBell EasyNote TS13HR
    PackardBell EasyNote TS44HR
    PackardBell EasyNote TS45HR
    PackardBell EasyNote TSX62HR
    PackardBell EasyNote TSX66HR

    - Gateway
    Gateway NV57H
    Gateway NV77H

    So I guess that this tool can be tested on all these notebooks (and probably it will work). I've just read about Acer 5742G on Acer forum, so since it has been tested and confirmed working, I've added it to the first post!

    I have the thermal paste and today I will make the change.
    Yesterday exporting a video on Premiere, for around 1 h, and with fan 100% the cpu temp reached 88º, and I bet that's too much in any case, so I will give it a try with the thermal paste.

    Hopefully someone is still around.
    I have an Acer Aspire 5750G (Core i5, GT540M).
    Just have a couple of questions:
    1. I used this undervolted BIOS from the first page
    (Nvidia GeForce 540M
    2D Voltage: 0,83V
    3D Voltage: 0,85V
    Link: P5WE0121_ByAkbar_GT540M_Undervolt(0.83-0.85))

    Restarted my laptop, wanted to try out a game and it glitches out really hard (sounds distorted, weird green squares, freezes, etc.), that weren't there before. Maybe it doesn't like to be undervolted? I should change back to stock BIOS, right?

    2. I cleaned out the dust, repasted (Noctua NT-H1), but it really doesn't make (any) difference. Is this even quality paste? Should I try out the much praised Arctic Cooling MX-2 (3-4)?

    3. I'm thinking of getting a Cooler Master Notepal U2, since it has movable fans (great job Acer on putting the entries on weird spots). Is it recommendable?

    The throttling reaaaally gets on my nerves, since I play for like 10 minutes, and all of a sudden, slows down, then runs fine for a bit, then slows down, etc.

    Hey.

    So it wouldn't let me send you a pm, probably because I just made this account. But thank you very much for this topic, fixed my over heating issues, it was causing my processor to perform worse, making the laptop pretty slow. But I'm having an issue or two. After installing the undervolting bios (for the 540m) despite remaining much cooler, I cannot boot the laptop from the battery anymore, it'll just shut back off, I have to have the ac adapter plugged in. Maybe perhaps because the voltages are too low? Is anyone else having this issue as well? It's not a huge deal, since I can just revert, but I'd like to keep the heat gone too, and you mentioned making a custom one, I'm not sure what the voltages would need to be though, but I'm willing to test until it works.

    Well I was having an issue with MSI afterburner, but that's gone now... don't know why. (Wouldn't let me change core clock, I could only select from 0 to 100 mhz, and it wouldn't offset, it would change the clock to the corresponding speed.)

    Acer Aspire 5750g
    i7-2630qm @ 2.0 (anything I can do to increase/decrease the clock speed or voltages?)
    Nvidia 540m 1gb .83-.85 672/1344 @800

    Thank you very much in advance.

    -Edit

    I'm using the same bios from the post above mine. And I don't believe my card has been throttling (it doesn't get above 79c, but I haven't tested with intense games too much yet, only had this for about a week now)

    -Edit 2

    Yep, throttling, and blue screening. I reverted to the original unlocked 1.21, but the heat's somewhat back now... You mentioned in the OP that you could customize these? If possible a .88-.92 would be great

    Hello people,

    New issue with my laptop!
    It makes a screaming sound whenever i close the lid. I found out it was related to the incorporated microphone (feedback). Muting the mic solves the problem, but still...I wonder if it has to do with eventual damage to the wires in the proces of disassembly the laptop (for thermal repaste). The disassembly was done several months ago though...

    Any thoughts?

    Another question!

    My 5750G (i3, 540GT) has the GPU cooling based on thermal pads. Can I change that to thermal paste or is the configuration made so that I can only use thermal pads?

    Best regards!

    Thermal pads are thicker than thermal paste is and if you use a thick layer of thermal paste it will contract anyway as it gets dry, so it can't be done that way.
    Replacing thermal pads usually requires using copper shims to compensate.

    I'm so sorry for my long absence guys, but I had quite serious health problems. Anyway I'm fine now, so here we are.

    Probably your gpu can't handle well these voltages. I will add other modded bioses with higher voltages for GT540M asap!

    I really suggest to use Prolimatech PK-3. I've just repasted my 5750G, and my temps still doesn't go higher than 70°C (both gpu and cpu) with demanding games. Be sure to apply only a thin veil of paste on both cpu and gpu. Use too much paste can only be counterproductive.

    I own the Notepal U3, and I'm very satisfied. The movable fans are very useful, and you can even add more fans (you can buy compatible ones on Cooler Master e-commerce site).

    I'm so sorry for the issues you're experiencing with my modded bios. Atm I'm working for releasing more voltages options for GT540M, probably this gpu doesn't like these voltages, as the previous user confirmed.

    Probably mic connector isn't inserted properly, so when you close the lid (mic cable pass along the screen frame) che connector moves and causes the screaming noise. Try to open up your notebook and check if the connector is inserted properly!

    hello Ellric...Would you please kindly mod the Acer v3 571G with nvidia 630m voltages like you did with the Acer 5750G. Below are the voltages in various states..

    @202Mhz core and 405Mhz memory - 0.8370v
    @660Mhz core and 900Mhz memory - 0.9620v (default)
    @797Mhz core and 900Mhz memory - 1.0620v (boost)

    Needless to say, the card gets hot very fast(up to 92 degrees in less than 5min of Tomb Raider, Sleeping Dogs..e.t.c...) then throttles at 92 degrees to 475Mhz.
    Even when i force the GPU to stay at 600-660Mhz, the laptop still reaches 92 degrees and throttles..severely crippling games.

    I have already repasted my laptop twice, cleaned fan e.t.c but the issue is the same from Day 1. Also I have a cooling pad. Most people with this laptop are having overheating issues due to the high voltages of the nvidia 630m.

    Here is the link to the official ACER V3 571G bios.

    There's also a modded bios version

    Full Laptop Specs

    Acer V3 571G
    nvidia 630m 1GB
    Intel i5-3210m
    500GB
    15.6inch 1366p
    Bios 1.13
    Win 7 x64

    We will be very grateful for your help..
    Thank you for your time.

    I will give it a look asap!

    Edit: @Aeonia Here, try out this. Apparently your vBios is a Kepler style bios (although it's still a fermi card) so you don't have fixed voltages, but they scale according to the frequencies. I slighty lowered your voltages curve, so now you should have these values:

    @202Mhz core and 405Mhz memory - 0.8370v
    @660Mhz core and 900Mhz memory - 0.9500v (default)
    @797Mhz core and 900Mhz memory - 1.000v (boost)

    Be Aware! This modded bios is untested, and can be potentially harmful for your laptop, so flash it at your own risk! (However it should be totally safe :p)

    https://mega.co.nz/#!t1JA1QIb!vGqlLK4xHEahp5l8NcqZY12RzpwWj9OffreD7qT21KQ

    Let me know if it works correctly and if it helps for lowering your temps. I think we have a little room for even lower voltages yet.

    GT540M owners, please check the first post, I've added several GT540M vBioses!

    Just tested it..only the voltages at @797Mhz core and 900Mhz memory - 1.0120v (boost) changed...the rest remained the same..0.8370v and 0.9620v for (default)..

    Nevertheless it's a great start..my temps are still throttling though. If you would be kind enough to lower them even further at least in the 0.88v on default and 0.92 or 0.93 boost..

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    i have also noted some other voltage profiles..

    @202Mhz core and 405Mhz memory - 0.8370v

    @270-475Mhz core and 900Mhz memory - 0.9370v

    @660Mhz core and 900Mhz memory - 0.9620v (default)

    @662-700Mhz core and 900Mhz memory - 0.9870v (goes to this state first after throttling)

    @700-797Mhz core and 900Mhz memory - 1.0120v (boost)

    OK, I'll try to lower the fan curve according to your requests as soon as I come back home. Check the thread later!

    Swifted with my Moto G

    Update:

    Ok, try out this one:

    https://mega.co.nz/#!QhgBVDpb!IceTPYbC3GLN8gjzlSJs0rLSevTVLKQF0alcBz36NpQ

    I've considerably lowered the whole fan curve, with a max voltage of 0.925 (boost) and an average voltage of 0.88 (default). This should help for lowering your temps, but consider a cpu/gpu repaste since only that can considerably help with your heat problems.

    works awesomely..just clocked highest 84 degrees 660Mhz core and 900Mhz memory - 0.8870v (default)on Furmark(8minutes) which is a very very big improvement from stock voltages..without crashing or artifacts

    I am now even more convinced that the nvidia 630m can work at even lower voltages..Wish i knew how you were changing them.

    So my final request, could you please lower it to match the one you used in the first post when testing PayDay 2 and TombRaider..

    such that at:

    @202Mhz core and 405Mhz memory - 0.8370v
    @660Mhz core and 900Mhz memory - 0.8500v (default)
    @797Mhz core and 900Mhz memory - 0.8870v (boost)

    Thanks again for all your help..I still cant believe it took me two years of throttling to find this solution.

    EDIT: Playing Need For Speed Rivals and Amazing Spiderman 2 for more than an hour saw my highest temperature at 81..76(with cooling pad) degrees at 661Mhz core and 900memory..Still am willing to bet even lower voltages will still be stable..hopefully I'll even be able to overclock it past 800Mhz.

    I'm glad that it helps. Here the bios with the voltages you asked for:

    https://mega.co.nz/#!c1pSwbYb!rT1GHV1quaDbxKF9lX5IvcQqQaRRG9qZNx_jOjilRnY

    and here a version with even lower voltages:

    https://mega.co.nz/#!Iw4VRQqI!LA0h-cMOsoDIZCHwXB903QJ4SgXgHYZ4auQbF6S7YVg

    so you can try both of them and see which one works better for you!

    Update: The first one works excellently..a steady 797Mhz with temps highest at 82 degrees(furmark)...Just played CS:GO on all high at a steady 60fps..highest temp was 73 degrees..that's 19 degrees of improvement.

    The second on glitches out and games stop working when it hits 797Mhz..so I'll stick with the first one.

    Thank you once again. Now to tell all others with this issue what I've learnt..

    and just in time for WatchDogs...

    Bios name is shared between Acer V3 571G and your Packard Bell model, but the version for standard (not uefi) bios is different (1.13 vs 2.17). To prevent any issue, I've modded your official bios, directly downloaded from packard bell site, with the same voltages I've used for Aeonia.

    If your notebook comes with Windows 7 preinstalled flash this: https://mega.co.nz/#!kgBV3STI!V-ert1NfgahFg9Sg2sPtKh5BvNAqVq0HiWh_Eik3ksI

    If your notebook comes with Windows 8 preinstalled flash this: https://mega.co.nz/#!0owSAS7B!elin19H6oY-Z_usw_s032mpk99lgb8gHUrooGtWBMNw

    I've not noticed the v.1.13 before, but according to the packard bell support page latest bios for your notebook (with Windows 7 preinstalled) is v2.17

    [IMG]

    But apparently bios releases for this notebook seem to be a total mess (version 2.15 released on 2013/08/ 27 and version 2.14 released on 2013/08/ 28, lol), so to avoid every possible problem, here your official 1.13 bios with modded vBios:

    https://mega.co.nz/#!dtIk3CRK!FYeic6dBpNsepI05fC9peSa5y-F-rjXb0TqgX2t4

    If you want the unlocked version it should be safe to flash the one I've made for Aeonia.

    what is decryption key? and if you can please answer me some questions:
    1.If I undervolt gpu can it cause pc brick or kill gpu?
    2.I know that flashing modded bios is removes your warranty but could I recover warranty by flashing original bios?

    Sorry, bad link! Here's the right one: Click Me!

    Flashing a bios (both modded or original) is always a little bit risky, a simple power loss or a windows hang can cause a brick. However it's highly unlikely, and in case there're fully tested recovery procedures. Lower voltages can't kill the gpu, the major issues that you can possibly experience are crashes/freezes/artifacts while gaming, if this voltages are too low for your gpu itself.

    Yes, if you flash again your original bios your warranty is totally recovered.
