    hi,

I have a ACER 5742 (i5) and since a month ago it has been acting very strange. I would be using the laptop and then all of a sudden then screen would turn "fuzzy" like static/white noise on a television.

it is not always like this...seem to happen after about 20 minutes so i dont think the screen is at fault.

I have taken a video of this..

anyone seen this before on their laptop?

Looks like an artifacts from the video card. Take it on the service, or swap the video card, if you have the second one.

Agreed - looks to be the GPU although in this notebook there is no MXM slot so it will most likely require a mobo replacement.

It is a discrete card (as in it's not integrated into the chipset) but it's a part of the mobo and cannot be replaced on its own.
Acer stopped using MXM slots a while ago- it's cheaper for them and allows them to make thinner laptops.
