    Hey,
I can't find anywhere BIOS firmware(1.09) of Acer 5740G, maybe anyone has a link for it ? :)
P.S. If my bios update failed(im getting BSOD while windows 7 is loading), can i downgrade my BIOS from 1.16 to 1.09 ?

If your notebook gets past POST test and gives you BSOD it meant BIOS is not the problem. Before you get to downgrading anything try to deal with it as if it was strictly Windows problem as it most likely is.
When BIOS is down you don't get past POST and Windows never has a chance to present you with a nice BSOD.

First off, why are you changing your BIOS in the first place?
You should only be doing that if there is something that the upgrade will fix; otherwise, you're fixing what isn't broken.
Throw in the inherent risk in upgrading a BIOS, and this smells like a bad idea unless there's a good reason why you're doing it.

Does not the bios update sometimes fixes temps or makes some processes faster?

    Sometimes it does...
And I wanted to get my battery status working, because smth was wrong with it... AND I get BSOD in windows loading screen, so probably it's windows problem, but why it did occured ? :( Now probably i'll need to reninstall all windows, coz windows repair is not helping...

BIOS updates sometimes fix throttling issues or change temperatures fan kicks in etc but cannot on its own somehow lower temperatures.
Sometimes it makes the system faster but only in those rare cases when previous BIOS was poor and i.e. prevented memory from running at full speed and new one fixes that issue.
That said 1.16 for 5740G "Changes battery criteria" so it may be worthwhile.

OK, that's somewhat decent. Still, the rule of thumb is to avoid BIOS updates unless you're told to by an Acer rep OR there's something the update explicitly fixes on your machine.

Windows might be blue-screening because certain BIOS options (like SATA mode) might have been reset; try changing that.

Insert your battery before flashing BIOS if you hadn't done so.

Any bets on it just being the IDE/AHCI setting?

I have the same issue, however, my battery happens to be many thousands of miles away and will be a few months until I finally receive it. Is it possible to update the bios while missing the battery or must I have one in order to update it?
