Hey, I have a problem with my keyboard. I think I've been unlucky enough that something has gotten under my 3 and t keys. Not just sitting underneath but in the mechanism itself it would seem. They still work, but they are stiff and I really have to press them to get them to respond. Is there anything I can try to fix it that won't require me to void my warranty or take it to get fixed?

    Thanks

Do you know what is under there? I believe it is possible to remove the keys themselves. I sometimes have to remove my own laptop keys. This may sound stupid, but you just need to pull the key up by reaching under and popping it out. It may take a little effort. (let me know if you need clarification here)Once it's off just see if there is anything in the spots. Compressed air or a cloth should take care of it. After you are done, just place the key over top of where it originally was and press firmly. If anything other than the top of the key (a single flat piece of plastic) comes off let me know and I will instruct you on how to replace that part. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions!

Sounds a bit like liquid damage, something sticky that has dried.

If it is dry stuff then suck between the keys with a domestic vacuum's pipe (bit of nylon mesh over the end might be wise). If it is really stubborn but still loose stuff tilt the keyboard and/or spray sidewise with air duster at the same time.

It is unusual to get stuff down into the switch mechanism . .the design tries to avoid this usually. More frequently the plastic parts rub and eventually jam so having got them off - in one piece hopefully - you will need some precision filing/polishing equipment and sometimes a minute touch of silicone oil (thin spray variety) helps too

IF you have poured a pot of jam into it buying a new keyboard might be a better long term solution . . And you will have a set of spare key-tops then for next time you try to take them all off :)

I completely disassembled my keyboard to clean it. It gaves me problems of lagging and keys repeating. I Published a post on my blog. You can see it here
    :p
There are several pictures but the guide is in italian. (there's a google translation version if you want)
The guide refers to acer 5720G but i think can be useful to see how mechanism works.
