I have a question about the fan on this laptop. Its an Acer Aspire 5630-6288 with a core 2 duo. When the laptop is on, the fan is always running. Is this normal? It has kept my laptop much more cooler than my previous one, but the fan would only come on when necessary. I was just wondering if this was normal for the fan to always be on.

    Thanks

All of the ones i have seen have it so that the fan only comes on when needed and not all the time.
If you look in the eSettings management software there may be a tickbox in there somewhere that allows the fan always on option; however i think this option has been removed on most versions of that software now.

If you feel confident about doing it you could always open up the largest cover on the bottom of the unit and remove the ram stick(s). Underneath where the ram sticks were there should be two small metal contacts (they may be hidden with a sticker), use a screwdriver to short these contacts out for a few seconds to clear the CMOS memory; its important to do this with the battery and other power sources removed.

Other than that all i can think is that there may be a problem with the temperature not being detected properly.

Sounds like a good idea, but I think I'll leave it like it is. Its not that big of an issue for me to go that route. Thanks though...

Better too cool than too hot when it comes to laptops.

As a 5672 owner, I would love it if the fan ran too much. Ours runs too little.

here we have somebody trying to turn his fan off. if u were a 5672 owner, like me you would probably want the fan going at a higher speed. my fan is on all the time, but the speed is low.
