G'day. I've been asked to look at this Acer 5620Z for a local volunteer organisation that is having trouble with the screen display. It momentarily shows a pointer and some colour on the screen during bootup, but then goes black.
Connecting it to an external display shows the laptop is working fine, apart from the display issue.
I have disassembled it to check the cable connections, but doubt that this will be the problem.
Does anyone have any clues for me as to what is likely to need replacing? Or if it's even worth the trouble.

    Thanking you in advance.

The screen is black, but if you shine a flashlight on the screen, can you see anything?

It didn't at first, after several reboots on putting it back together it did have a faint image on the lcd.
Fairly sure it's the backlight inverter and will proceed in that direction.
    Cheers for the reply.

Ok, so I replaced the inverter, and the lcd cable, and can only see the display momentarily if I hit the fn and f6 buttons. It comes on and then winks out again. Still displays perfectly on an external monitor. Any ideas on what is going on?
