Hi everyone, I've noticed my laptop has been running quite hot recently so I downloaded a thing called Speedfan, which tells me my CPU is running at 70-80 degrees C. Isn't this really, REALLY hot for a laptop?? I really don't want it to overheat and break =(

I first noticed it and found that it was maxing out at 82 degrees, and the movie I was watching was getting jumpy. I was using WMP, MSN, Internet explorer for basic browsing, with Vuze running in the background. The most I ever use. This is my specification:

    Acer Aspire 5535
    4GB RAM DDR2
    AMD Turion X2 Dual Core RM70 (2.0GHZ/1MB)
    320GB HDD

Shouldn't this laptop be able to handle these tasks without getting so hot?

    Help please =D
    Thanks,

    Kolroc

I think your laptop needs a good cleaning, probably the fan and vent of the heatsink are clogged with dust. The dust can increase the temperature in a laptop with 20-30ºC!

You don't know how long the laptop was in the store(s), if he was turned on and for how long...

It was brand new and factory sealed, so it's only been used by me =D Also I make sure that it stays on a flat and even surface so keep dust away.

Any unusual things that could cause it to everheat?
