Hi, I have recently snapped the two hinges on either side of my 5315. Both are snapped in roughly the same place(about 1 cm from joint). The back plastic is fine but there is slight damage to front plastic(cracked shoulder).Screen works fine but needs to be propped up.
I would like to know how to replace the hinges. The local PC shop has said it would cost me £45, but I have seen the hinges on eBay going for £5. I would like to save my money for a CPU an memory upgrade.
I have not found any tutorials on this. Can anyone point me in the right direction, Thanks.

Aspire 5315 has the same (or almost the same) chassis as Aspire 5720G.
We can't share service manuals here but if you google for "aspire 5720 service guide" you might find something interesting ;)

I have a 5720g here. Its not too difficult. You have to take off the hinge cover to get the actual hinges off the chassis and unplug things. But you should probably take apart the screen assembly first.
Take the rubber things off each corner of the screen bezel, and unscrew it. Then remove the bezel, unscrew 4 screws on each side of the LCD panel and you'll be able to remove the hinges completely.

I don't think you'll have to unplug anything if you don't want to. Reverse the process with new hinges and you're done!

Thanks for the info, bought new hinges/brackets off e-bay for £3. It wasnt that hard to install after all. Thanks :D
