Hello. I was wondering if anyone can help me with a problem. I have had this problem since I have owned it!

The problem I have is as follows:

-When I am downloading something in the background, and watching something in full screen my laptop freezes and makes this awful noise (refer to youtube video).
-When I am watching anything online, or a video from my hard drive it sometimes freezes.

    What I have tried:

-Upgrading RAM from 4GB to 8GB
    -Reinstalling windows
-Disabling discrete graphics card switch, and leaving it enabled
    -Using laptop in full power

Here's a video of it occurring:

Holy Crap! There's only three things in your unit that can make a noise like that. 1-the Hard Drive. 2-the Optical Drive and 3-the cooling fan. My guess is the hard drive. It sounds defective. Are you still in warranty? If so, I would send it in for repair. Did you have a CD in the ODD at the time of the video? I doubt seriously if it is the fan, since the motor is not strong enought to make those noises, I think.

I have no idea what is this- it sounds too creepy for a HDD but going with Bronsky's suggestion- can you please post s SMART status of your hard drive.
Not the short one- full status as seen in HDTune or Everest/AIDA- something like this

I definitely know it's not the hdd (recently upgraded), the optical drive nor the memory (recently upgraded). That awful sound comes through the speakers so definitely not the cooling fan. It sometimes also occurs when I am listening to music. My worry is that it could be the processor, its probably heating up too much and then not able to process :- downloading, music/video; and general web browsing simultaneously.

You could also try disabling mic in Sounds and see whether it helps.

I meant, my computer freezes and whatever I am watching and/or listening to creates that sound. I had the mic problem on an older laptop so I know exactly the problem you are referring to. Thanks for your help though.
