My 3680, upgrade to a core 2 duo (see my sig. line), started something recently and I dont know if this is a BIOS issue, a Vista issue, or something else lurking...

On A/C power, my battery icon has a red "X" through it. When I unplug A/C, it goes back to a regular battery and says its 100% charged. The battery seems to discharge quickly, before it would last 1 hour or so on "power saver" mode, and with the screen contrast turned down. Now, it lasts about 10 minutes until the battery starts blinking and reports its dead.

Does the red "X" during charging mean something? Is my battery toast? Is there an update or flash to fix this?

I'd say you have a bad battery. It should last longer than an hour regardless.
