Hello i have a strange problem i run my CPU-Z on my laptop and it shows what follows:
    Name: Mobile AMD sempron 3000+
    Code Name: <empty>
    Brand Id:35
    Pacage: Socket 754
    Faily:F
    Model:C
    Stepping:2
    Ext Family: F
    Ext Model: 2C
    Instructions: MMX, 3dnow,SSE,SEE2,SEE3

the program cannot correcty identyie the core.
What is more when i run my Right Mark CPU it show core Palermo. How come ??
I dont understant also why this is Steppng 2, when it should be 0, for laptops in this serie.
I own Acer 3023 and other laptops have core Sonora.

I thought this is bios version problem but i have 1.13 the newest one from ACER.

How to correctly identify my CPU ?

Moreover the problem is the tepmeratures i have on it
sometimes they reach 80 degress with idle state 53 and i cannot set the voltage of processor because it is known as PALERMO but as far as i know it should be idntyfie as SONOMA

You most probably have the latest version of the Sempron, Sonora's were Stepping 0 and do not have SSE3 instructions. Yours is probably a newer "Roma" chip with SSE3 and stepping 2. That might be one of the reasons why CPU-Z does not detect these properly. Do you have the latest version of CPU-Z?

Palermo is the code name for desktop Semprons on which the mobiles are based. Right mark probably cannot identify the mobile cpu's properly.

ok now i tought everything was cleared, however i run the everest program to diagonse the processor and this one showed:
    codename: Venice-128 S745
    revision: DH-E6
    power con: 67 W !!

why co high power cosumption, this should be round 25 like other semprons ???

is this sempron 64 bit compatible ??? on AMD site i found that it has x64

Well, this is what everest identifies mine as...

    CPU Type: Mobile AMD Sempron LV, 1800 MHz (9 x 200) 3000+
    code name: Winchester-128 S754
    revision: DH-D0
    power: 67W

This again probably an error. In a way it is correct Venice core(d) Athlon64's are also E6 revisions. So since they share the same core(the same basic architecture as well) it identifies it as a Venice( or Winchester in my case) and gives it a power rating of 67W. It cannot properly identify the mobile code names and so gives out the code name to the nearest desktop relative.

The only program other than CPU-Z which would identify my cpu correctly was Central brain identifier(CBId). I dont know whether it will identify yours but you could give it a try...

omg yes it did identife the CPU as Roma :) u were complitli right!
but does it mean i have x64 bits, because probably this stepping has x64 implemented ..

That I am not so sure. In CBId check under (Processor) Features. If it says 'yes' to AMD64 Architecture then it most probably supports 64 bit instructions. But I highly doubt that it does. AMD probably will only add 64 bit support only when Intel adds it to the Celeron M line aganist which the Sempron competes.

The temperatures are pretty high for that processor my Sempron does not evevn go above 65C. What program are you using to check the temperatures and is cool n quiet or PowerNow enabled??

yes u are right only SS3 was implemented :)
for the temperatures i know they are pretty high, but i cannot do anything about.
Probably the termal paste in wrongly put becuse when the meter reach 60 degree the air which comes from fan is still cold while in others the air is pretty warm !
i am now thing about opening the laptop and putting some more paste inside! However i never done it before so could you tell me how to do it without any damage to laptop ??

for termal mesurments i am using mobile meter

Mobile meter is generally considered to be accurate. If your laptop is under warranty then I would suggest that you call up Acer and see what they say before opening the laptop and voiding the warranty.

If you want to open up the laptop yourself then look for the service manual for your model. It should detail the procedure required to access the cpu. These manuals are hard to get. There was a thread here recently where some guy was offering Acer manuals. You could check on that to see if he has the manual for the 3023.

Applying the thermal compund is pretty easy. Arctic Silver has complete iunstructions on how to apply the compound on their website...
