i've had several requests for a ZIP file with the LATEST XP DRIVERS for the 5315...

since the DRIVERS totaled more than 100mb i had to break the drivers into 2 files......... enjoy the latest drivers..

    zip file #1

    zip file #2

    zip file #2 now uploaded..

and this thread is also added to the TOP of the aspire 5315 CPU upgrade sticky..

so here are the drivers everyone has been asking for....
as newer (BETTER DRIVERS come out i will post links in this thread)

i'll EDIT THIS SECOND POST with my INSTALLATION ORDER that causes me no problems with drivers working...

REALTEK *WDM_R203.exe IS ALWAY THE FIRST DRIVER TO INSTALL... (found in ZIP FILE #2)

intel CHIPSET and intel GRAPHICS are 2nd & 3rd to install (found in first zip file).

atheros ar5xxx_760126-760224( www.station-drivers.com).exe (zip 2) is better than the newer version.. use it

ALPS touchpad (zip2) works much better for me than either windows or synaptics drivers...

LAN_Broadcom5906_v10.42.0.0_XPx32.zip (zip #1) seems to be a good driver, i've not looked for a newer version if you have one PM ME!!!

i also have the BROADCOM WIFI DIRVER THAT THE AUSSIES are having such a hard time i think it is in ZIP1. if not PM me i can add it if need be.

both ALPS and SYNAPTICSs drivers as well so you can judge for yourself which YOU perfer...... (just totally uninstall old drivers before installing new drivers ((even if from the same manufacturer,, it's just good practice)... just use the SETUP to install the entire driver and tray app (disable it later if you want as i do),,,, enable/disable any features you may need or not need....customizing the touch pad is vital to an enjoyable laptop experience!!!

installing the modem (works for most aspire models when realtek is the first driver installed....) it's simple you just go to the device manager under UNKNOWN DEVICES there should be an entry that says MODEM DEVICE ON HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO BUS.

1.. highlight the MODEM DEVICE on HD bus,
2.. RIGHT CLICK highlighted section,,, choose update driver....
3.. CLICK on NO not at this time
4.. CLICK on INSTALL FROM A LIST OR SPECIFIC LOCATION.. then CLICK OK
5.. CLICK DONT SEARCH, I WILL CHOOSE THE DRIVER TO INSTALL.... then CLICK NEXT
6.. SCROLL down the list and CLICK MODEMS,, then RIGHT_CLICK on the installed modem or the UNKNOWN HD audio modem device listed in other hardware.

7.. when the screen comes up YOU NEED TO PICK NOT AT THIS TIME click next, and click INSTALL FROM A LIST OR SPECIFIC LOCATION....click NEXT,, then CLICK **DONT SEARCH** and NEXT..

8.. choose HAVE DISK and point it to the folders inside the CONEXTANT zip files (where you extracted them) .... that driver seems to be the best modem driver IMO

VERY IMPORTANT... don't forget to install the LAUNCHMANAGER as it controls the ONSCREEN DISPLAYS OF VOLUME CHANGES, WIFI STATUS and other things dealing with FN+F7 keys where it displayes touchpad status....

i'll edit all this into one post later... just trying capture fleeting ideas

if i have left anything out PM me or post here....
