I bought this puppy (17" Widescreen, Celeron 380, 512 Mb memory ...) and love it, except for the fan noise. The fan turns on and off every few seconds (more so during CPU intensive tasks) and is very distracting. I tried throttling the CPU with the ACER power software to no avail.

Some reviewers have said that there is a BIOS upgrade to solve the problem but the latest one I see on the ACER website is version 1.4 which is the version on my laptop too.

Anyone else owning this laptop have more insight on this issue?

    Thanks in advance.

have you tried adjusting the fan speed with speedfan or maybe nhc (don't know if it can)
