I have an ACER Aspire 1640 model ZL8:

I replaced the battery and power supply. I plugged in the power supply to the unit with the new battery installed. The unit started immediately but went to a blank screen shortly after the battery was depleted. It appears the power supply is delivering power but it isn't recharging the battery in any capacity threw the laptop unit. There is no power indication threw the LED displays on the computer suggesting the battery is completely discharged. I tried to reset the unit by removing the power cord and battery by pressing and holding the power button for 30 seconds simultaneously as suggested by the user's Manual. I then reinserted the battery and power supply with no results...

Update: I have determined that it may not be a software issue. When my Power Supply is plugged into the wall the LED on the actual Power Supply is a solid green indicating that it is plugged into the wall. When I then plug the Power Supply back into the laptop, the LED on the Power Supply begins to blink. This indicates to me that some sort of connection is occurring. I'm not sure what kind of connection but at least it's something. Please keep in mind I have replaced the battery pack and the Power Supply is new. I'm thinking maybe there is a short in the adapter from the laptop so I am attempting to remove the back panel and inspect it. This is where I run into another problem after removing all the visible screws holding the back panel. There still remains three small screws directly under the LED screen. There doesn't seem to be any way to remove these due to the lack of space in-between the pivotal point of the screen and keyboard cover thus preventing me from accessing the female connector. :err:
If anybody has any good ideas about these dilemmas please feel free to insert your suggestions. I appreciate all of your attempts.

    Thank you sincerely!
