So I've been reading many forums and threads about downgrading my Acer Aspire 5920G from Vista to XP. Ive gotten most of the drivers and what-not but one thing no one gets into is how they get the HDD to IDE. It's not in my bios, at least not as far as I can tell. This is my only problem as most of my others have been answered. My system bios is V0.3505 an the VGA is 0.4.41.00.18. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

what´s missing is the sata driver for xp. your hdd will not be recognized by windows xp sp2, since it does not know sata.

    you have two options :
    1. you disable native sata mode in bios
    2. add your sata driver to the windows xp installation.

if you don´t find that option in your bios, as you have stated , you might wanna try the second option.
for that you would need the proper sata driver for your chipset and a software called n-lite. this tool let´s you slipstream the driver into an image of your windows xp cd. after that you just have to burn your windows xp cd again.
now the installation routine will recognize your sata hdd and you can install XP.

So i just tried to reflash my bios to a later version, said i dont have the rights and i dont feel like dealing with that... At anyrate that cd sounds like a better idea and im off to find nlite. Howerver... is the SATA driver the only one i need on the cd, on that note is it the Intel AHCI driver i downloaded from acer? Also, i have a SP1 cd id imagine there are many things on that i dont need, should they be removed? If there is a thread dedicated to this method point it out.

the sata driver is the most essential....
but you can put other drivers onto your xp installation disk as well. Another thing you should consider is integrating SP2 for XP on your cd also.
