ok, so I have an Acer Aspire 3050, soon to be upgraded to a Turion TL-52, and I am a little bit bothered by the startup speed...
Let me explain a little better, My 3050 has 1gig ddr2 and when windows boot, after the sound, takes like a minute or two for the notebook to be used... it doens show the networks or browse the web for at least 1 minute... fresh installed system and I couldnt figure out why is this happening...
    any ideas? thanks in advance!

PS: when the Turion arrives will it get better?

Is this Windows Vista? Adding another GB of RAM would help.

And of course, you can just use hibernation.

I have NOD AV and my computer boots very fast. Ok, I have 2 GB of RAM, but even with my previous computer (only 512 mb of RAM) NOD didn't give me problems.

it doesnt maybe you have too much stuff in your computer and have not defragmented it try something like diskeeper and another free defrag. I have nod and its fast and uses less memory than anyother av i have used in the past
