    Hi all,
Just wanted to say thanks to all for all the help with the upgrades. I ended up settling with a seagate momentus 7200 rpm 320gb drive that ran windows 7 flawlessly.I had a probelm with the WD black stuff.
As for the CPU, the real limiting factor was the ram. because this board can only handle 2 gigs of ram it seemed foolish to chase down the elusive T7600, but because my daughter is a wowhead, I did stick with the speed in chosing a T2700 ( 2mb cache/ 2.33 MHZ). It really breathed some new life in the "old" girl, going from a t2060 (1mb cache/1.6MHZ).It was an undocumented speed, but seems like all the acer stuff is like that..never give the fastest speed possible. It seems to run a lot cooler too! Might be the Artic Silver 5 I used on the 2 chips.
On a side note, it is not for the faint of heart to do the cpu upgrade, you basically have to take the computer completely apart,as the h/s in upside down in the lower case. I used the excuse of replacing the lcd hinge to put the upgrade in, but i can tell you the service manual stinks. I had a time with the pictures as they really arent a lot of help. It is the community like this that the customer service people should take lessons from.
    Thanks again all
