Hello everyone. This is my 1st post. I recently purchased an Acer 8920g. It came with Vista ultimate 64. I was very excited until after 3 hours of use the screen just went blank. The lights are still on the keyboard but the screen stays blank. I have cut it on and off, removed the battery and tried alt F10 . I finally got an error message the next morning when I opened the lid.
Your computer cant come out of hibernation mode
    Status: 0xc0000411
Info: A fatal error ocurred processing the restoration data
    File: \hiberfil.sys
Any information that was not saved before the computer went into hibernation will be lost.

I Emailed Acer and they cant seem to understand that the screen is blank. They keep giving me directions after I boot into safe mode.

I didnt install anything except avg 8 free edition.
Thanks for your help in advance.

    Jason

    Hi welcome to NBR.

I cannot find a solution for this BSOD but check this page, a guy with the same problem and couple of suggestions made by Microsoft.
    Do you have SP1 installed?

Uninstall AVG, and see if it helps in anyway.
AVG and Avira are known to have caused issues during hibernation, as they try to scan the pagefile.sys and the hiberfil.sys.
Another user has been facing similar issues in the OS Forum.

Thanks for the replies. I talked to Acer on the phone a sec ago and they said because it will not show up on external display either they assume something more serious is wrong. We tried a master reboot where you take the battery out, unplug the power adapter and hold the power button down for 2 minutes. Did not work. I did all windows updates when I first received the system including sp1. I failed to mention the finger print scanner couldnt read any of my prints either. The touch interface would turn volume up and down but wouldnt launch program. Sounds like I just got a lemon.

    Thanks again

Thanks Fuzzy L. The problem is there was no display. I did a special reboot where you remove battery and power cord and hold down the power button for 2 minutes. Nothing happened so the tech had me send it in. The biometric finger print scanner couldnt read my prints either. I assume I just got a lemon. This is my 1st Acer so I hope it gets better.
