    hi,

are there any other port replicators for the 8204 apart from the rather expernsive EZdock? Kinda out of my budget but would like the convienience of having to pull out only one lead.

    Cheers

There is also a Port Replicator III Part # LC.T4101.004 that is a less expensive alternative to the EZdock. The EZdock also come with its own power supply leaving the original power supply available for home and or travel... I have the EZdock @ work and I may get one of the Port Replicators for home and save the time of plugging everything in.

what do you need for extra ports? You could always get a cheap USB hub or something like that depending on what you need...

Read the original post, there was no mention of needing additional ports.

I have the EZ-Dock. I find it very finicky and sometimes more of a pain than it's worth. Sometimes I boot up to find the NIC did not connect. I have to shut down and reseat the dock connection to fix it.

I so long for the drop in style docks like HP or Dell have. It would be particularly nice to have a dock that props the laptop up and raises the LCD to eye level (like Dell and HP both have as well.)

Yup.. same problem here. Still using XP. Both USB and Firewire ports on the dock quit working a couple of months ago. THey seemed to quit working at at about the same time. IT seemed to be just around that time that i noticed that the left side of the dock was getting extremely hot. You couldn't keep your hand on it. This would happen just when my machine was docked.

I would normally just open it up but i have the 3 year extended warranty. I think I'll just send it in and see what they say.
