Is my volume control working correctly? The touch thing at the left. It changes the volume in blocks of 2, but even 2 blocks is quite loud and very difficult to set it at 2 blocks in the first place. Normally it goes to 4 blocks then 0 volume and takes time to set it at 2. Having to set the volume using the bottom right icon atm.

Is there anyway to get it more accurate and have a better range of volumes in the lower levels?. I did uninstall a lot of the junk programs that came with it but not launch manager

I don't think you can, at least not with the in-build options in the Launch Manager. What you want to do *maybe* can be achieved with some registry modifying..I'll check it on my laptop and let you know what I've found out.

    Ok then here it is:

On my computer(Aspire 5715) the Launch Manager control the volume control like this: I have to press 16 times the "VOL +" to up the volume from 0 to 100(Vista max value) and as you can expect I have to press 16 times the "VOL -" to down the volume from 100 to 0. And the Launch manager displays 16 green bars for max(100) volume and 0 for min(0) volume.
I modified this "16" value to be "25". So now I have to press "Vol +"/"Vol -" 25 times to go to max "volume/min volume". And the Launch Manager displays 25 bars(thinner) than 16.
I believe this is what you want - smaller steps(which mean more accurate) for volume up and volume down when using the Launch Manager?

    Instructions:
    1. click on "Start" and type in the search bar regedit then hit "Enter"
    2. Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Compal\LManager

You should see two "Directories" - OnScreen and Settings

    3. Extend OnScreen --> OnScreen\Predefined\Volume
    4. Select Volume and on the left you'll see registry keys. Find Max Volume Bar Level, select it then double-click on it. Change the current value(which is 10) to 25.
Note: On my laptop 25 is the max value, if I try.. 30 for example, the Launch Manager doesn't work well.

    5. Go back to OnScreen and Settings.
    6. This time we select Settings. Please note: we select Settings we do NOT extend it.
    7. When you have Settings selected you'll once again see registry keys on the left.
    8. Select Volume Level then double click on it. Change the current value(which is 16) to 25.
    9. Restart(recommended) or Log Off.

    Done.

I made 2 screenshot to easier the process:

Tried it out but doesn't make a difference. I get the smaller bars when volume changing but again i stuggle to move it to 2 bars before it slips to 4 bars or 0. And the volume for 2 and 4 bars seems the same as before.

2 bar volume is alright, but rather have 1 and 3 as well or more of a choice but even setting it to 2 is difficult. AHhh so inaccurate when im used to a volume wheel, you Acer!

Are there any additional registry keys compared to my screenshots? Can you make some screenshots, preferably from all the "folders" of the Launch Manager?

I guess the Launch Manager for your laptop is slightly different..I was afraid of that when you first mention that it's reg folder is not Compal but Inventec.

Hmm..I got nothing from those screens.

I'm starting to fear that the eFramework and the other " e" software interfere with the Launch Manager.
This also explain those "2 bars/4bars" steps you describe - I do NOT have such steps - it's always 1 step=1 bar - and I have only the Launch Manager installed.
Or, the problem is that your laptop is 6935  - much newer model than mine, different motherboard and everything..

Guess i'll have to live without it! However on my XP the bars can be selected in 1s not in 2s. But still getting volume you want is entirely based on luck especially for under 4 bars again.
