    Hi guys

i have the 174.51 drivers from acer for my 9500m gs and i was wondering if i should update them to the 186.03 from nvidia. I heard that the ones from acer have some optimizations for the hdmi port and if i connect the cable everything will work great on the tv ( sound , image, everything). Should i get the new ones or stick with the old ones ?

I have a friend with another laptop (asus with hdmi port) and the sound output from the hdmi only works if he uses the drivers from ( for the video card ) asus.

The latest Nvidia official 186.03 geforce-mobile driver is WHQL certified. I think he can support Blu-ray, HDMI and so on.
Unofficial drivers(such as own modified driver, modded driver or DOX's optimized driver) basically can't support these stuffs due the they lack of WHQL.
If you're unsure, download the old driver from Acer official website or backup your own driver(so, you can roll back to original driver anytime).
Then, only install the latest official 186.03 driver from Nvidia.
I should tell you that latest driver = performance increased(a lot) and bugs fixed. AS 6920G stock(original) driver is buggy.

186.13 with WHQL!? Even the Nvidia website doesn't have that. OMG! It is a modded driver? If it is a modded driver, then, it is not WHQL certified.
Can send me the link for it? I can't find the 186.13 WHQL geforce mobile driver in laptopvideo2go(it needs dunno what PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_&SUBSYS_).

    Here it is.
Actually there is no need for you to restrict yourself to certain driver.
As long as your Device ID is in the installation .inf file you can install it (and you are not using specialized hybrid drivers).
For my laptop this is the latest WHQL certified Nvidia Driver.
Please note that this is actually the old Vista architecture driver.
New Windows 7 optimized driver will be the 19X.XX series of drivers which are still buggy and not WHQL yet.
The new 19X.XX will feature new Control Panel and features.
PowerMizer setting will also be be adjustable in the control panel.
To check the Device ID go control panel device manager right click your vga adapter and choose properties there will be a tab on device id.

    Question 1:
Actually, how do I apply the INF stuffs(please tell me in detail, I am pure noob)?
    Question 2:
However, I check the v186.13 driver, it seems lack of the INF file currently.
    Can I still install it?
    Question 3:
    186.13 better than 186.03?

    Answer 1:
Inf is included in the driver. It is usually called XXX.inf in the driver zip.
LaptopVideo2go will list the compatible devices just go check (Device Manager) if your adapter is in the list.
Answer 2 is part of answer 1.
You can also use modded inf meaning device not originally support is "hacked" to be supported.
    Answer 3:
I would say bug fixes will be present as for real performance wise you have to benchmark yourself

Thanks. I will try it out later. I should inform the performance, bugs fix or bugs create and benchmark here to make sure it is a good driver or a bad 1. ^^!

I have run both 186.13 and 186.03 driver.
Both of them give same performance ^^! Tested benchmark.
However, 186.13 is not a full official release of Nvidia and its installation is a bit annoying for me due to it needs to remove the old driver before it installation.
Unlike the official 186.03, if you're using official driver all the time, you can just click on the 186.03 installer and voila. No need to remove old driver.
