    Hi to all,

I just purchased an Aspire AS9300-5349 and was about to install the 64 bit Vista Ultimate OS but came across an article saying that Acer has no drivers for Vista Ultimate x64 so I called Acer and indeed that's true. The tech help was pretty much useless and clueless as to this issue.

I did not even think of the possibility that Acer would not have these drivers available at this point in time and my intent was to install this OS & my 64 bit software from my desktop to the laptop so I can work with the office software when on the road. Had I known this would have been an issue I would have bought from a different maker like Dell who does have the 64 bit drivers available.

Now that I'm in this conundrum I'm wondering if anyone else has overcome the 64 bit driver issue with this motherboard.

If it is of any help, here is the specifics on this laptop (I have upgraded to 2GB of RAM.)

    Thanks for any input.

    Hello,

I have Vista x64 on my desktop and run several 64 bit programs with it. I have found only two drivers for this computer that are not compatible:

Of those two, the x64 update software is not working (HP all in one scanner/fax/answering machine) but the native drivers for it with the OS work fine.

As to the other driver (proprietary sound card) is not necessary at this time, the other sound card works flawlessly.

As I mentioned above, It is my need to have the same software on both desktop and laptop.

It only makes sense to use the full capabilities and command hooks only available in a 64 bit processor since that is what is being offered with most if not all processors. As 8 bit went to 16 bit & 16 to 32 and now we have 64 bit processors, the software followed each advance. it only stands to reason these x64 drivers will be mandated in the near future but this is the transition time for the 64 bit architecture.

It is the video and sound that are most necessary for me at this moment. Certainly the wireless and modem driver will be important.

I am surely not the first person with an Acer Laptop who is facing this need. I am hoping someone else who has figured out the solution can help me save time and effort searching.
