It doesn't give any error messages: it simply doesn't anything.
    That's all.

Have you tried removing it completely, then downloading the latest version from the Acer Euro site, installing that, and trying again?

If that fails - can you write to a DVD using other programs? Also, some issues describe eRecovery not recognizing cheap DVDs; so maybe try using a proper branded one?

good answers,, i've also seen the ERECOVERY work after disabling the pre-installed ANTI-VIRUS software...

but your idea of reinstalling eRecovery sounds like a good place to start

my 7110 came with NTI CD/DVD maker.
this gave me the option to burn a bootable DVD for this machine.
also when you have the laptop up and running try the Alt+F10. this also starts the eRecovery. and select option 1

EDIT this let me use a cheaper DVD and i made about four copies. all tested and all work fine.

    First of all,thank you.
Yes, I can write DVDs using other programs and if I try the Alt+F10 it starts erecovery: but then, it doesn't write any dvd.
    How can I uninstall erecovery?
I downloaded the latest version and installed on the old version.

add and remove programmes in control panel.
then run cc cleaner to remove any old bits in the reg.
    restart laptop then install eRecovery.
let us know how you get on

Trying to find a solution to my problem I read a few of bigozone'replies to zer0noise. I followed these instructions ( http://ezinearticles.com/?The-Acer-D...101&id=1160163) but none of them worked for me.
I used partedit32 to find my hidden partition, (some 10G), i changed it to 07. But when I go to windows computer management I find (apart from C and D) two other partitions, but none of them is called PQSERVICE. They are nameless. Therefore, I cannot activate it.
I also called my ACER support (Italy) and they told me that the dvd recovery kit costs 60€ (!).
The partition is there but I cannot open it.

Question to add on to the topic.

Having a bit of a problem with my girlfriends Acer, going to run the recovery when I get home from work. Never ran the back up before with an Acer product, will I need to back up her files before so? Does it wipe the device clean? Seems she has gotten a virus, nothing seems to be working well. Was hoping this would wipe it + restore defaults.

    Thanks!

When i start erecovery (from boot screen alt+f10) it just stops and gives some error code something like (000000000000111111111aaaaaaaa1111111100) and reboots.. I guess mine came with a broken pqservice partition.. I also wondered why it had vista ULTIMATE installed but had a PREMIUM sticker on it.. Those bastards...

sounds like you may have been given a used hard drive.
is the D2D on in the Bios ?

microsoft doesn't show any results for that code.
check you have it written down correct

The code is not written correctly, sorry. The guy who sold it to me also said that it had been sent to acer because it couldn't install windows or something like that. But acer should have restored my pqservice partition if they knew it was broken, and not just installed some stupid copy of ultimate.

Should i just get rid of the partition?
