On my 5920G, there's a volume 'roller' on the front, beside the SD card/headphone ports. It isn't quite recessed enough, so keeps changing when it's on my lap.

Is there a way to turn this off? Something like Fn-F7 disabling the touchpad, but for the volume switch.
    Thanks

According the thread here the wheel's function is controlled by the chipset driver. If that's the case you might want to look in the BIOS. I did some looking and haven't found any mention of how to turn the wheel off. Everyone seems to mention how handy it is, but no one says what to do if you don't want it running. Not installing your chipset drivers just for that doesn't seem like much of an option. Perhaps you can put a piece of tape over it, or do you normally use it and it just gets in the way sometimes?

I've looked in the BIOS, but the only relevant option is to disable sound altogether.

I use it sometimes, but it hinders far more than it helps. I'll look into putting some tape over it.

    Thanks
