Like a few people here, i'm having a fair few problems with my 5920, and haven't been able to iron a few of them out. I have a few questions, and would be really grateful if anyone could help me.

Basically I am wondering if the 5920's HDMI connection offers both video and audio over its HDMI connection. I bought a cable and connected them up to my Sharp Aquos LC42XD1E but could only get video to display. Anyone been able to get audio without a seperate cable?

Also, the LC42XD1E is a 1080p ready TV, yet the nvidia control panel only seems to offer me 720p (1280 x 720). Does anyone know why this could be?

Lastly, what is best to choose in the Nvidia control panel - clone or dual display? (So far I cant get clone to work...?) and in dual, do you guys need to drag and drop the Acer media player on to your HDTV for it to display there?

Sorry for all the questions, and thanks for any help!

For the audio, if you right click the windows volume icon (not the Acer volume icon) down right at the bottom and select playback devices and new window will pop up. Then you select Digital Output Device (HDMI) and set that as a default. Start your media player and you should have audio to your TV without an extra cable.
For the 1080p output, you go to the nvidia control panel. Once you have connected your laptop with the HDTV, a new menu will come up in the Video&Television category. There you can select the resolution. If you don't see it then probably you need to update your drivers (I have 169.25). My TV supports only 720p and 1080i so I haven't done 1080p by myself.
My laptop goes directly to single display (which I prefer anyway) and picks the TV as the only display when I connect the HDMI cable so I don't think I can choose clone or dual display but I am not bother either. That might be because of drivers but I am not sure.
    Good luck.

I can choose audio over HDMI in Vista but now when I've installed XP instead I don't have that option. I guess it's a driver issue but I've tried about three different audio drivers suggested for 5920/XP. Any tips?

I have the same TV and Acer picks up 1080p itself. However I have underscan problem with my current drver. No probs with the stock driver. Audio via HDMI - control pannel-sound option-HDMI-confirm

In Windows sound properties I can only choose "Realtek HD Audio output", I have no HDMI option. In Vista I always used the Realtek HD Audio Manager from the system tray to set the default sound but in XP the Manager doesn't seem to have that option...

    Edit:
N/m I uninstalled the audio driver and installed Realtek v.1.86 instead and now it works.

I have to say that so far I don't have any problems with my 5920g but that's not the subject. In vista there is not such a problem with the HDMI as you mentioned above. In XP you might want to try to go to control panel then sound and audio devices. There choose the tab audio and in the palyback devices there is a box with a scroll down list, there might be the HDMI output so you can pick it from there. If that is not successful I would suggest you to install again the Realtek HD drivers and in this way you can have the Realtek HD Control Panel (unless you already have it) so you can choose the playback device from there (it's actually another interface for the Windows sound and audio devices CP but more straight-forward and user-friendly).
And finally another option is to install the acer audio manager which is actually the Realtek CP but with the acer name on it. Even though it's for vista it should work fine for XP.
By the way, why everyone is installing XP? My vista are more than fine and way better to XP.
The true answer is reinstalling Vista without all these third party applications (which were designed for XP really). (out of the subject again)
    Hope that helps

I think for the resolution you should try different drivers. I had a quite similar problem and after changing the drivers it was gone. You can try some from laptopvideo2go, they have all of them. For the display I would choose clone, dual is quite tricky to work with. If it doesn't work again I would suggest you to use other drivers. So far with the ones I am using, I use single display so when I plug the HDMI the laptop's screen is off and I am using the TV as a monitor (which is sweet). Remember it's very important when you update video drivers to remove the previous one completely (you can use drive sweeper), otherwise you might have problems
    I hope everything goes well
