    I put in a single stick of Kingston DD2 PC5300 200 pin so-dimm - and nothing.
Won't boot. Tried reseating the ram, no change. If I put the original 1GB stick back in its fine... What gives?

try putting the RAM in the secong slot,, not the first one you tried...

i've seen 2 or 3 people reporting success by putting the 2 gig in one slot and the 1 gig in the other.... then boot... do you get any screen? does windows load? if it does do you get BLUE SCREEN errors?

others have solve the BLUE SCREEN errors by swaping which card is in which slot..

    try that and report back

I tried it in both slots, nothing either time. I get no screen, no nothing, just the HD spins up.

You could try a BIOS upgrade, and see if that solves the problem....

Or do a complete power drain, by removing the Battery, AC Supply, all sources of power, etc and then press the Power Button for 20 seconds, and then boot again....

Ok, I'll try those things and report back. Thanks.
