I just noticed that after installing updating to 1.43 sata drivers were automatically installed and I now have SATA support with XP Pro. I got this working previously without slipstreaming the drivers, but since then I had reinstalled and did not bother to do the workarounds required to install sata drivers post XP install. Anybody else have this welcomed suprise after updating to v1.43 from 1.42

Hmm normally, the BIOS update should not have nothing to do in this case...the SATA problem is caused by XP(missing drivers) not by the BIOS, therefore a BIOS update cannot solve this problem...this is really strange.

i just updated the BIOS and of course it reverted to AHCI from IDE and when XP loaded I had new device drivers installed and I am now using SATA. No BSOD...no errors...nothing. Just perfectly installed drivers. I know its weird and outside the box, but A nice surprise is better than no surprise. :)

i bet the SP3 update installed the SATA AHCI driver...

but i thought the DATA on the HDD was in a different format due to the conversion that took place durring the install?

oh well... nice to be proved wrong (in this case anyway)

    congrats
