Can someone who actually has an Acer TravelMate 4502LMI post it's true specs? I'm getting more confused looking at various websites.

What video card does this have? Newegg says that it has Intel integrated graphics, while others say Radeon 9700. And is the video RAM dedicated or shared? I've read some people saying that they have lower system ram than usual, making it seem that it's shared.

And Pricegrabber lists that the DVD burner is Dual-layer one. Is this true also? And is there a widescreen version in the US (I think there's on in UK..)

Like I said, I'm getting more confused the more I look. This laptop looks like a better choice than the Inspirion 8600, but the scant information/reviews about this laptop make me want to go with the Dell right now.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Well. I don't have it yet. But I should have mine on Wednesday and I'll be sure to post you my specs. But I have seen what you said about different sites having different specs. I got mine from www.jr.com. It costs me $1189 at the time becus they had a sale that took $100 off the original price. My specs are:

A travel companion must be compatible with your needs. Acer realizes this and the TravelMate 4502LMi appears evident of blending psychology, technology, and adroit Communication when fashioning this Notebook PC for you. This Centrino model is configured with a 1.6GHz Pentium M 725 processor, a 2MB L2 cache, a 80GB ATA/100 Hard Drive and 512MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM (expandable to 2GB). In addition to the 400MHz front side bus, it features one Type II Cardbus slot and a DVD+/-RW drive. Choose how to connect with the 56K V.92 modem, 10/100 Ethernet or Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG 802.11b/g. The ATI Moblity Radeon 9700 graphics controller with 64MB DDR Memory supports resolutions up to 1024 x 768 on the 15.0" XGA TFT LCD, as well as simultaneous display on an external monitor. You'll love the Integrated Stereo speakers and Audio ports. The 4502LMi includes a Li-ion battery, AC adapter, Touchpad and 88-key keyboard.
    Intel Pentium M Processor 725 (1.60GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 400MHz FSB)
    512MB (256/256) DDR333 SDRAM; 80GB hard drive
    Modular DVD-Dual drive (DVD+/-RW)
    3-in-1 digital-media card reader
    15.0" XGA (1024 x 768) display
ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9700 graphics with 64MB DDR
Has 802.11b 802.11g WiFi Wireless LAN compatibility
    RJ45 Ethernet port and RJ11 dial-up modem port with 56K V92 modem
    Includes Windows XP Pro pre-installed
    Unit Dimensions (WxDxH) - 14.2 in x 10.7 in x 1.3 in / Weight - 6.4 lbs

The specs on the Acer TM 4502Lmi can differ from place to place becus it depends on which part of the world they merchant got the laptop from. But I do think its a better deal than any Dell notebook becus Dell has a history in making laptops with heating problems and other quality defects. I think it was this year that they had to call back several thousand latops becus of defects. Acer laptops seem to be more reliable but they're just not that popular becus they tend to only sell to the business market and not the everyday consumer. They are now just starting to show their faces and are aiming at coming at number 3 in the world by next year. Hope this helps you. Feel free to email me at [email protected] And I will post something under a new topic when I get my Acer 4502lmi. I should get it on Wednesday. Later.

There are different personalities inside me...Can you hear their voices? I can.

Thanks for the reply. I sent an e-mail to Newegg asking the same question, and they directed me to this site.

    http://us.acer.com/acerpanam/page4.do?dau22.oid=5570&UserCtxParam=0&GroupCtxParam=0&dctx1=25&ctx1=US&crc=3179891045

That pretty much confirms that the 4502LMI (at least here in the US) doesn't have a ATi Radeon 9700. If it only had the Radeon 9700, I wouldn't hesistate to purchase it right away.

I went ahead and decided to go with a Dell i9200. They were having a huge sales that I couldn't pass up on the Dell EPP site. (20% off + $200 off + 12% off + free 2 day shipping on all Inspirions).

Anyways, thanks again for the reply. I appreciate it.

I guess that's because some TM4500 models sold in other countries come with ATI9700. While the one sold in US does not. Shame!
Anyway if it includes ATI9700, maybe we have to spend much more for that.
