the LED backlight ia acting up..
whenever i touch the back of the screen the lower-middle and lower-left leds turn off, making a portion of the screen dim, but the image is fine
this started off a few months ago, only happening when i touched a certain small area of the screen
now it happens everytime i move the screen even a little and either the middle or left LED's stay turned off for a while, randomly coming back on when they feel like it
i know it's the lcd cable's fault, but i can't be bothered with sending it back, waiting for weeks without a laptop
is there any way i can fix this myself?
also, is there any better alternative to the 1366x768 panel? like a 1600x900 or 1920x1080? i know that the sony 13.1 inch screen models have 16x9 and full hd resolutions
as far as i've googled, nobody else seems to have this kind of problem on any laptop

It may be the cable or it's connectors or the backlight assembly . . impossible to say without pulling it to pieces.

On a 13.1 inch higher resolutions can be quite an eye strain . . theoretically better but many peoples experience suggests otherwise (small text mouse accuracy etc etc) See one using this res for internet etc (rather than DVD)at 13" before spending the money

I have a similar issue with the screen. At certain angles there will be discoloration along with artifacting on the screen which is easily fixed by moving the screen back and forth a bit. I noticed it before, but the frequency has suddenly increased. I also think the lcd cable is slowly losing contact.

Sorry for the bump, but I'm having exactly the same issue. It happened in January 2010 and I sent it to Acer in March 2010 when the backlight completely went.

The issue was fixed...until September 2010 (when it only just got out of warranty).

It's steadily getting worse and I really don't want to not have a laptop for weeks again :<

If the initial problem was reported within the warranty period, I would talk to Acer and let them know that they have failed to fix the problem initiailly reported within the warranty period.
