I bought an ACER 3680-2682 recently and figured it would be smart to create a recovery DVD right away. I attached an external DVD writer and created one. I then tried to read the recovery DVD with the internal DVD ROM player and it failed. I have no problem reading it with the external DVD writer or other systems with DVD Rom drives. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be? Am I going to have to create a stack of CDs instead?

Its likely an internal reader problem. If you can read or boot from external DVDs, set in the bios to boot from external drives, you needn't fret with the internal dvd player.
